Gaming BF3 or MW3 for online Multiplayer

I enjoy both of the series but I would like to get one right now and can not afford both, though eventually I will get both. Which one should I get if I am mainly going to be playing it for Multiplayer online?

BF3 is more team oriented where as MW3 you can run around like a lune and shoot people full of holes.

hmmm...i would advise you try the alteriwnet version of mw2 since its basically ALMOST the same thing as mw3 multiplayer, youll get a feel for it, if its fun for you then thats cool. bf3 is more team based, you can try the Battlefield 4 Free online and you can kinda get a feel for bf3 multiplayer (but of course this will just be like a 20% feel for wat bf3 multiplayer is really like i guess).

Sounds like mw3 is just too arcadey.

But maybe bf3 aimed more at pc and mw3 is aimed more at consoles

It really depends on what you're more interested in...

BF3 is more team-oriented and is more tactical in the sense that you can't run and gun and still do great.
MW3 is more "arcadey" and fast-paced, and IMO, is much more fun with friends (I haven't played BF3 yet, but judging from BFBC2, MW3 is most likely more fun with friends than BF3).

MW3 will win the multiplayer battle in the end. In 1 year from now, MW3 will be played much much more online, while BF3 will only be played by 10% of it's buyers by then.
CoD just have way more experience on making a solid multiplayer (as in one not dying after 6 months).
I would pick CoD MW3 above BF 3 any time.

In a year time bf3 will still be going strong online.
Bfbc2 was still going strong online recently before bf3 came out and they are also gonna release map packs.
I think mw3 seems more popular because there's more noob players and run n gun players about, who can't be arsed with using skill or playing tactically

Or maybe it's because Modern Warfare is just more fun in the end. At least in my opinion. I wasn't bad at BBC2, I just got bored fairly quickly. It might have had something to do with the fact I had no friends to play with since none of them had it.

And I don't know the exact numbers, but it would surprise me if BLOPS still isn't more popular than BF 3 online. The game is a year old but I'm pretty sure people still like it and play it, more than people who bought the brand new BF 3.

Playerbase doesn't mean quality

True that, but I would be surprised CoD has less quality players than BF3. Even when you remove the +- 50% of 12-16 olds playing it, it'll still have more 'real' (don't know how you can define those actually) players than BF3. CoD is just a way better franchise, and it's rightfully bigger than BF IMHO. I've been a big CoD fan since the first CoD came out, and the CoD 2 is still my most played game ever, it was amazing and a true masterpiece. From there it just grew exponentially.

BF3 is a game best played with friends. Get 3 friends together minimum, make a squad, and go pwn. Or if you're alone, join a squad in BF3 and invite everyone in it to voice chat. Make friends to play with.

Also, I can't comment much on how good/bad MW3 is, because I haven't played MW2 in like 2 years, and I can't get AlterIWnet to work for the life of me. If you like MW2 better than BFBC2 with friends, stick with MW3.
