Does this seem like a good budget screen?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FLGR2PN

It checks most of the boxes:
1440p
32"
144hz freesync
flat screen and not curved
320 nits
the stand is pretty good, lots of different adjustments
$300 price
name brand screen for the price (rather than off brand ones around that range)
includes dp cable

though some negatives:
5ms response (does have od modes but the fastest 1ms mode creates inverted ghosting)
not ips (va panel)

take note, im using a 12 year old 1080p 23" 60hz screen right now so really anything would be an upgrade

When in doubt, check rtings.com, basically the #1 place that tests and reviews monitors and TVs (down to basically a science at this point )

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/32gk650f-b <

But for $300, TBH, I don't expect you'd be able to find anything better with similar specs, anything that's an improvement on this comes in at least $100 more expensive, so if you really need a 32" 144hz 1440p display, that's probably about as good as you'll get currently.

The screen looks good to me. I don't know how far you plan on sitting from it, but at 32 inches, there is a noticeable benefit to having it curved. I have had a 32 flat and a 32 curved, and I very much prefer the curved. It's what I still use.

LG 34WL500 34" 2560x1080 IPS panel with HDR and 75hz refresh rate is great choice. 21:9 is better than 16:9 for gaming

144hz is better than 75hz, he's also looking for a 1440p screen, that's 1080p
also getting hdr to work on pc is a nightmare

At this point in time, I would ask the main reason for the new Monitor purchase.

My rationale for this is similar to that for High-End Gaming Laptops; most are still running 1080p but flaunting higher Real-Time Quality and FPS. With that in mind, going for a Budget Desktop I would still recommend a 1080p Screen, but with higher Response Times and better Colour Accuracy.

For my Design work with AEC Software, I definitely do not care for High Resolution Monitors; I would just recommend people to get a larger screen and make sure Windows Desktop Scaling is set to 100% instead of Automatic. Judging from the 2021 Laptop Line-up, this will also be true for Gaming, at least for a few years.

So if your Professional and Gaming preferences overlap somewhat with mine, a better 1080p would be my recommendation over this.

I already bought the screen, but want to touch on a few things.

The reason why majority of gaming laptops have 1080p screen is simply due to the screen size, they come in 14-17" most commonly, no reason to put QHD or UHD screens on those since its a waste of resources and you wont notice a difference at that screen size.

I also did consider a 21:9 ultrawide but not every game has support (its alot better support than it used to have but not 100%) and some games like overwatch even make it worse, with just a cropped and zommed in screen for "21:9 support"

Also on HDR, unless you are buying a higher end hdr screen, the entry level stuff is complete garbage (HDR 10/HDR 400), many people just says it makes the picture worse which is why I passed even considering it, dont have the money to spend twice as much for a somewhat niche feature.

I do kinda wish I went for a curved (maybe 1500R-1200R), sitting close below 2ft, there is ever so slight fading on the edges, maybe 1/10" of it fades.

But other than that, everything works great. my card is handling both 1440p and 144hz just fine in most stuff anyway (RE8 demo for example was hovering around 114 fps)
No dead or stuck pixels, not back light bleed or spot lighting.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.

He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.
