yes it can you must install a cmios and make sure you press x so it works with backup launchers.

I believe its X that you press i could be wrong, its been a while since i installed cmios.

I just tried burning a GameCube game to a Verbatim DVD-R. I burned at 2.4x with ImgBurn, installed version 4 with launcher of the cmios... and whether I use NeoGamma or GCBackupLauncher, the Wii's drive will just sit there trying to read the disc, making odd little noises that repeat endlessly until I turn it off. The disc was verified after burning.

Really don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I have a launch unit Wii if that means anything.

Did you install the recommended cMIOS? (from here)
Also, be sure to use the latest NeoGamma R9 beta.

Yep, tried that. I don't think it's an issue with anything in the software, the drive just seems to reject the disc completely.

2.4x is a DVD+R only speed, now guess what i guess what the problem is...burn at least 4x anyways, burning slow was something you needed when 4x burners were faster as hell(produced coasters on everything burned faster than 2x/2.4x).

lol yeah 8x or 16x have never failed me and my drive, and ive literally burned hundreds of games.

Well, I burned another disc at 8x, and I get the same result. The drive attempts to read it and makes these repetitive little sounds over and over.
