Hey guys/gals
So my sister is in need of a laptop for school and occasional gaming (particularly Sims 4 lol). I've been going through reviews and videos and I've found one that looks like it will perform great, at least, relative to my own i3 laptop and my gaming desktop. It is the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575G-53VG). It has an i5-6200U, 940MX GPU, 8GB ram, 256GB SSD.
We live in Canada, and most things are pricier than in the States.
So here's the deal:
in Canada, it is currently $896 CAD at Amazon.ca
In the US, it is currently $540 USD at Amazon.com
Also, there is a $750 CAD version at Newegg.ca, the main difference is it has a slow 5200-RPM 1TB HDD. It also lacks a Optical drive unlike the above models but apparently you can still place an HDD caddy where the optical drive would be.
Now, $540 USD converts to $711.13 CAD according to Google, which is about a $185 save if we buy from Amazon.com, granted there are no other costs (customs, etc.). We can't ship it to Canada (just tested it) but I have a close relative in CA that wouldn't mind sending it here without charging us the shipping.
So my options are:
1) Buy in Canadian Amazon for $896 CAD
2) Buy from US, send to Canada for approx. $711 CAD
3) Buy $750 CAD model from Newegg.ca and get an SSD (which is more expensive here than in the US, so I'm not really liking this option)
4) Better laptop suggestions for you guys?
What would you choose?
I would really appreciate the help, thanks guys/gals!
