So I finally got a spify new cell phone that's capable of running Java and all that fun stuff (a Sony Ericsson S710, to be exact) and was wondering if there were any cool freeware (or "free"ware, if you catch my drift... >_>) out there that I should try out. I'm just looking for a little something to fiddle around with when I'm bored and pulling out my DS isn't exactly prudent.

You should get Giana Sisters! It's old but I still like it a lot.

It's not freeware but why care about that at a place like this were ROMs are discussed ;P

DOOM RPG - exceeds the original in some areas IMO.

Orcs & Elves - from the creators behind the above mentioned game.

Where can I get Orcs & Elves from?

I'd also highly recommend Ancient Empires 1 & 2, they're incredible tactical strategy games, I had them on my old phone but I've lost them now, again, no idea where to get them from again, gah!
