I'm not a pessimistic troll or something but I can pretty much confirm this is fake.

Realistically speaking, this is too good to be true. You cant honestly expect ALL of this in one update. That's way too much of what has been asked for to be a real update.

I dunno, it kinda seems like Nintendo is finally learning and listening. The fact that the online service was delayed from last year to this year, and seemingly again to later this year, leads me to think that they're at least considering and experimenting with the things that fans have been clamoring for, such as voice chat built right into the system, despite their initial plans to only limit it to our smartphones. Other things seem incredibly likely to come eventually: rearranging the layout of our titles, the ability to create folders, more media apps coming, and the ability to get more themes. None of that stuff seems unlikely to come to UI soon, so I'm really not seeing anything that's really convincing me that this isn't real. I'm skeptical, but I'm leaning much more towards it being genuine.

I honestly would have no interest in hacking my Switch if the Virtual Console turns out to be a quality service: a large library of great past titles that you have full access to if you pay a monthly fee. If however they do go this route but the selection is weak or if they continue to do the pay to own each individual VC title, then I will be interested in getting the likes of RetroArch on my Switch.
I highly doubt that will be the case due to one major reason.
Copyrights.

Clear example, N64.
If they end up releasing N64 titles for the service, I am 100% most Rare games (aside from DK64) won't be there.
Same for a lot more titles on other systems.
I'd much rather play whatever game from my library I already have than to rely on them and pray they release the ones I want.

The system uses the same font for the entire OS. The fact that the 2 "g"s are different means this was After Effects and is therefore not (or has an extremely unlikely case of being) real. The second part could be a bug, sure, but why would it happen when the cursor/selector is conveniently ready to start moving towards it? Again, it looks more like a mistake in After Effects than an actual bug.

I mean, why would Nintendo add an update that adds basically everything people have been asking for on the switch, all in one update? That's almost asking too much of them, we'd be lucky to see a browser for quite a long time, especially now after the Team Xecuter thing was just announced (though that probably wouldn't influence Nintendo's decision on whether to include the browser that much).

COMPLETE assumption. Who knows what Ninty is doing with their beta OS? There could be MANY real reasons as to why it's like that.

And to the rest, I'm honestly just too lazy to respond to each point, but you're literally just making pessimistic assumption, bud. Those points literally mean NOTHING.

Cloud saves and proper web browser! That would be so damn awesome. Add the incoming Rainway beta and the Switch is going to be one awesome ass console!

Edit: seriously Nintendo, can we get some frakkin menu music? I come from the "school of Wii". Call me spoiled but I expect menu sounds. Hell, I even have the menu sounds playing in Steam!

People claiming it's fake literally have ZERO things to go off of right now, but using their worries and pessimism.

Seriously guys, come the fuck on.

Sure some games wouldn't be there. But they still have access to plenty of fantastic titles, and the third party games would likely have to regularly be rotated in and out every month as licensing deals end just like with Netflix and the like. But not having access to the 3 or 4 N64 Rare games Nintendo doesn't have access to (They can and have released the Rare Donkey Kong games on their VC services) worth replaying in this day and age isn't going to be a dealbreaker in the slightest for me.

Okay. How about the Mario Kart filesizes -- In the video, it's downloaded on the menu, but the system memory isn't nearly full enough to actually be holding it. If it were archived it would have a cloud icon, and if it were cartridge it would show a cartridge icon next to it.

The 2 different 'g's are compelling, but considering this is not a finished off for release update, I wouldn't be surprised if little things like this just need to be fixed up prior to release, maybe they didn't realize that they had the theme store themes set to a slightly different version of the same font.

Could be a change to how 5.0.0 functions, or at least in its current state functions. Perhaps they've temporarily removed the cloud icon while making the changes they have been for 5.0.0.

Nothing I've seen or heard yet has convinced me that it's a fake. I agree that there are red flags, but I can think of plenty of logical reasons as to why the issues people are pointing out may be in this not finalized build of the supposed update. We'll know for sure soon enough I suppose.

It's a Beta, it's not going to be perfect. Maybe Nintendo removed the cloud icon, maybe they're allowing you to store games across multiple filesystems, who the fuck knows.

I'm not quite sure about that. What font did they use? Wouldn't it require they download the similar font for the different g to even appear in the first place? We see it nowhere else on the OS at all before the update, and it really doesn't make sense to download a similar-looking font just to get a different 'g'. They could've used the font they already had, especially since it's used exactly the same in other parts of the menu that already existed before, but conveniently for the new features they used a different font?

If its a font family stored in the Switch which I have to imagine it is, then its very possible its calling the wrong variation on the font family that the rest of the system has been calling as the default.

This all boils down to one thing

Porn incoming to Switch. Lmao! Seriously the browser alone and being able to properly surf temp from the Switch will eat up a good chunk of my time with the console. I really hope this is legit! So far it seems like Nintendo is finally learning from the past.

I guess it's possible, but IMO it's unlikely, since making menus like that would probably consist of putting together a psuedo-xml file -- or editing pre-existing ones. For example, to add the Cloud Storage portion of the menu you could just copy/paste the microSD portion, and just point it to check the free space of the cloud instead of the microSD. On the other hand, I would find it very easy to make a small mistake like this in After Effects; simply not noticing the 'g' during throwing all of this together.

Okay:( But don't be disappointed if it turns out to be fake (which I think is very likely). I'd rather keep my expectations low because otherwise I'd be very disappointed if it turns out to be fake.

Also what about this.

Well I mean, consider this: If it was faked, then the people faking it, got the font right once (see the proper lowercase g for Lounge), but then instead of using the same proper font uniformly for everything else, they then used a second wrong font? If anything, that seems less likely than an error being made from the Switch in regard to what variation of the font it is calling for the themes.

How is it less likely? In AE you'd have to manually make each element, meaning you'd have to pick the right font every time. The g in Lounge is different in size, thickness and position in regards to comparing it with the Cloud Storage g, or the Legend of Zelda g. It's possible that while making each element of this leak in AE (which there would be a LOT to do at this level of fake leaking), they got lazy and didn't notice they picked the slightly different version of the same font.

I mean you set the font once and it will automatically pick the same one each time. They'd have to go out of their way to change the font to a different variant. Just doesn't make sense, unless they wanted to purposely put out a red flag.
