Hi, I'm having some cooling issues on a PS3 slim... there's an huge disparity between CPU and RSX, I've changed the thermal paste 1 year ago and I didn't use it that much since then

67 may not but that much at 49%, but I'm playing like this right now

Because it goes at 70/95% with the lid on...

Any suggestions?

Basically comes down to logic. If you put your ps3 in a fridge, it will run cooler. If you have better fans that push more air you will have better cooling. If you change HDD for SSD it will produce less heat close to the cpu. If you ask if you can do something sowftware wise? Probably not.

So for now put one of those huge fan you get for 20$ and don't put the cover back and play on!

I was talking more about some hw stuff that I can do, like a case mod or something.
Playing it with the case open isn't viable, and with a fan pointing at it either (it would be different if I could change the internal fan.. but can i?)

Yes but it<s not worth it. Buy a slim ps3 instead... it will be lot cheaper/ better investment.

OP has a Slim PS3 lol.

@Nachash there's a little fan adapter that ramps the speed up.
Should be for sale on Ebay.

Aside from changing out the thermal pads, there isn't a whole lot you can do on the PS3.

Perhaps a Slim Intercooler might help, tho I wouldn't use it meself haha.

Personally, those temps aren't to much to worry about.
You might want to see about replacing the thermalpaste between the IHS and CPU/RSX chips if you're paranoid tho.

Try changing your target temperature on webmanMod to 58C. It will be much more louder but it will definetly be cooler. If fan always stays at 100-95 percentage speed, there might me an issue.

I have bought one of the first slim PS3s with components getting the hottest besides fat PS3 ofc and it has the model number 20XX and after delidding it stays below 40%.
It was pretty much unused though so it was below 40% even before delidding as the thermal paste under the internal heat sink wasn't dried up.
I used a youtube tutorial video from the NSC guy for delidding:

The RSX part is pretty easy and is possible with the tool he recommends.
For the Cell CPU I used one of these painter spatulas though, as making my own tool didn't work:

The fan is even at 40% too loud imo though, so I use a 4k superslim now.

Can you link it please? I can't find it

I was thinking about replacing the paste between the IHS, but I'm kinda scared to be honest.

I keep it open because 95% is way too loud for me, the target is 65 right now
