Corners of DSi screen are white

I turned my DSi on today for the first time in a few years and noticed the top and bottom right corners of the screen are white. It looks as though the backlight is so strong it's obscuring the screen. What's causing it? Is there anything I can do about it?

First of all check it with another game.

If it is still the same, you will need a new screen.

Though if the screen doesn't have any dead pixels, I would suggest putting up with it as replacement screens are not of the same sharp quality.

Causes for this are usually either:

• Console is well used.
• If it's the bottom screen - stylus has been pressed a little to hard.
• Console has been sat on or been in storage and has had something sitting on top of it.

Sounds to me like it was bumped a bit too hard sometime in the last few years that it has been sitting in storage. It's on the bottom screen. The last time I played it was back in 2021 according to the date my last Pokemon was caught.

I believe that it is backlight bleeding, and is more common when screens become older. If the game is playable, then it is backlight bleeding. If the game is not playable, then it probably is a worn out ribbon cable.

At least it works. I had my Xbox and Xbox 360 well stored in my room for over a decade, and both stopped had issues that they never had before storage. The Xbox 360 got a RRoD. The original Xbox's optical drive died after testing it for a bit.

It kinda looks like LCD polarizer layer is lifting from the LCD itself.

I'd try applying pressure there with something thin and hard (like a ballpoint pen) to check if pressure can make the "bleeding" disappear.

Have you seen LCD's without polarizers? They're completely white, and the white light fading inwards makes it look like, again, it's separated from the rest of the LCD.
