Water and vinegar + cotton swab.
91 % isopropyl alcohol + cotton swab if that doesn't do the trick
Jesus I didn't even see the 2nd one down. That's gonna be a tough one to clean out. Use a toothbrush with vinegar and water for that one.

Clean the contacts thoroughly, and once you have all the battery acid cleaned off, you may have to clean off corrosion on the terminals themselves. it's probably just not making contact with the batteries because there's so much corrosion. Hopefully the board inside isn't damaged, but it looks like most of the leakage stayed in the battery compartment.
If it still doesn't work after cleaning the terminals properly, then open it up and have a look for any corrosion or residue on the board.
You want to make sure you get all the residue off both internally and externally as it will keep eating away at the contacts and traces. Neutralizing it is a good idea too, if the batteries are alkaline then vinegar should work well for that. Other battery types that are actually acidic I believe you can use baking soda to neutralize.

Cheers for the suggestions guys, will give it a good scrub with isopropyl and vinegar, doubtful it’ll work because the metal contacts look to have corroded away but il give it a go

If the contacts are gone but the motherboard is fine, you may be able to either replace the contacts or find an alternative for the internal battery compartment (e.g. solder in an external battery pack or dc connector).

Gave it a good scrub with isopropyl & toothbrush and it worked!

Thanks to everyone for the rapid responses earlier, expected to wait a while for a suggestion.

Here it is now, not perfect but it works

Thanks again
