I think I found what was wrong the whole time, was using an older version of the RSDKv5 repo due to git clone --recursive. I got this to work on my mom's phone, when it was having the same black screen issue as others. works fine on my phone, but I still need to see if it's working correctly.
remember the dependencies like the mods and the RSDKv5 data file or extracted (not sure if it matters, but I have mine decompiled).
