Hacking CTR NAND TRANSFER question

so, I've crossed eyes with this new stuff called
Ctr nand transfer thinngy,

From what I understand, it makes the whole otp thing faster, no need to downgrade manually.

Please correct me if i am wrong, with
I'll just call it CTRNAndTra

I'll just have to flash a base 2.1 nand (after fiddling with it maybe To be usable on a specific 3ds.) Get the otp, and return to the gold fw.

Is that how ctr nand transfer works?

I just wanted to get the concept on how it works cos I don't see it being talked about at least outside of long threads.
