So apparently there's a save editing tool for the 3DS up for preorders on Amazon JP. The device is created by a company called Cyber Gadget and will release on May 29th, package includes a software CD and a 3DS cart reading dongle.

Seems like they've broken the save encryption in newer games, because it includes an editor that supposedly works with currently released games it shouldn't be just an R4 dongle copy.
Anyone got more info on this or the company behind it?

Temp's thoughts right now: What does this mean for Pokémon!? D:

Very interesting! Hope the software can work with the R4 dongle, or that the R4 team will update their software to include save editing?

It claims to include an editor unlike the R4 dongle which was just for bkps, even without an editor it only worked with older games.
I mean if this is the real deal the R4 dongle should be compatible since it's just a sav reader/writer, provided that it gets an update.

poop, I was really hoping this generation's Pokemon games would be fair for everyone.

And though this goes against everything I was just saying in another thread, maybe this could lead to an exploit like the Twilight Hack for the 3DS. Of course you would need a dongle like the one that comes with this or the R4 save dongle that many of us received for free to implement the theoretical new exploit save.

I'm not seeing anything about compatibility with firmwares or other things like that. It could very well be a clone of the R4i save dongle modified to work with only their software. Chinese companies are really good at doing that.

well the only thing new would be the encyption and the data editor

if both indeed work and get dumped online will be cheaper to buy a R4i Save Dongle :P
How hard is it to unofficially update the R4i dongle? I doubt the R4i team will update it to support newer games.

the dongles the selves dump the encrypted save

then the software opens them using the key inbuilt (theres more than 1 software that can do this
so all thats wanted it the key and then per say a cheat enabling software

its not a Pokemon X & Y save editor
they will most likely change the save structure completely for the game now if it is true

If this is real... (which it probably is seeing as it's on Amazon)
We could be seeing save exploits released in not too long :)

The editor will probably not support a lot of games (probably only JP ones) so it's not terribly useful but if the save can be dumped to a file people can develop game-specific editors.

If the software itself decrypts the save, someone might be able to reverse engineer it and create an app out of it that will work on saves dumped with other devices too. That would be great, as I have a R4i SaveDongle.

I'm surprised they're only marketing this for JP though. It wouldn't be much more work just to make it support all regional versions of a game, as the saves are practically identical across regions, and it would increase their sales tenfold.

From RupeeClocks post in the hack thread I thought the dongle was unable to dump saves from newer games in the first place. That's why I'm saying it would require an update.
