CycloDS Evolution Firmware v2.1 has been released for both Evolution and iEvolution and is available for download from the support page.

Changes in this release include:

  • Common
    • Added GUI screen capture option, for reviewers and skin testers. See readme for details
    • Fixed game compatibility regression with 0168, 0559 etc
  • iEVO
    • Moonshell is now supported in DSi mode. Please ensure that you download and use the copy of Moonshell v2.10 from the CycloDS website
In addition, we have uploaded both the CycloDS iEvolution users manual PDF file and a new build of MoonShell v2 which are both available from the support page.

Screen capture is a nice feature, if even it's only of the GUI and not in-game (if they pull THAT off, I'll be impressed)

Moonshell and CookingTimer have GUI screenshots themselves, but they always crashed the DS afterwards.

SCREEN CAPTURE

SUPERCARD TEAM BETTER IMPLEMENT THIS TO DS2
(dont call me a supercard fanboy - i believe its a feature that all flashcarts should have)

if it was in-game too
THAT WOULD BE KILLER

In-game screen capture would be really awesome. I wonder why no flash cart has tried implementing that before.

Anyways, I'm really glad the old Cyclo is finally getting updates again.

Actually the in-game screen capture might be made into the Evo/iEvo. TC once made a post about it a long time ago and there isn't really a major problem concerning it. Just isn't top priority if no one would use it.. Hopefully we'll see the feature in a future release?

Here is it. TC is mostly working on iEvolution so I expect nothing for now.

Before you guys get too excited about the ingame screenshots, I need to make you aware of some limitations. Firstly, due to the way the DS hardware is configured its only possible to take a screenshot of one of the screens. This does not mean one screen at a time, it means only one of the screens (to get technical, you can only capture from the primary display engine). Hopefully this limitation will not be so bad since games will usually be using the primary display engine to draw the important gameplay and the secondary display engine for less important stuff such as the status screen or maps. Second, since the code running alongside games is rather limited its not possible to actually create BMP files on the fly - if this feature was implemented the screen captures would be saved to a temporary file and then the CycloDS Evolution GUI would convert into nice individual BMP files on the next boot. Third, there would be a limit as to how many screenshots you could take in a single session. Can you guys live with these limitations?

They still have to fix the old cheat prompt, because it still does not work properly with all cheats. Only the new cheat prompt does.
