Dead Space remake gets its first gameplay trailer

EA has deigned to give fans a quick look at the Dead Space remake's first bit of gameplay. The 2-minute trailer shows off some of the sci-fi survival horror aspects, and also confirms the return of Gunner Wright as the main character's voice actor. Dead Space is set for launch early next year, on January 27th, for PC (Steam + Epic), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $70 for console, and $60 for PC.

To me, Dead Space was one of the last good original IP horror games, after that they all felt numb and repetitive.

The concept it brought to the table was unique, no intrusive UI elements, all made in essence of the game's ambient and setting. It was truly original and the scares felt unique, both with jump scares, and that dreaded fear of being both overwhelmed and followed, all even in the subdued audio portions of vacuum in space.

The remake looks really good, I'm really looking forward to it, as Dead Space is one of my fav franchises and I 100% the first one with all the achievements in a couple of days way back since the launch of the original, something I still remember vividly to this day.
Hope I can give it a try once I get my hands on a Steam Deck (hopefully lol).

Yea, the original still looks remarkably well and the gameplay is solid. Don't need this now, specially not for $70..

Played the first one on Steam a couple months ago, and honestly with the few tweaks you need to make sure it runs fine it was still amazing. Don't believe I installed any mods and the only issue was V-sync being set to off resulting in a door not working near the beginning of the game halting progress. That was the only issue, and other than that I loved the horror for once when I barely play any as it is. Cool that their remaking it, but so far it looks like you'd be better off grabbing the old one on Steam before you have to pay $60 again.

Damn $70 for current gen (PS5). So, when PS6 is out games will cost $80? An expensive hobby.

At least on PC it'll cost $60 or less.

So looks pretty similar. Guess its good to get it on modern consoles.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.
