IMPORTANT WEBSITE ACCESS INFORMATION

DealExtreme has been made aware that our main website www.dealextreme.com is currently inaccessible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this outage.

This is caused by a matter, which is currently being resolved, with the Domain Name Registrar. DealExtreme is working diligently and promptly with the Domain Name Registrar to resolve the problems.

In the meantime, customers report that the website is still accessible by using http://www2.dealextreme.com/.

Customer service (http://services.dealextreme.com/) and our shipping operations are NOT affected by this outage.

DealExtreme highly values the availability of all our services, and outages like this are very rare. Please be assured that we are working on everything possible to bring the site up as soon as we can.

Thank you for your understanding!

Well to explain that:

First of all www.blahblah.com is the same as http://blahblah.com the "www" is actually a subdomain (yes it is!) that points to the root directory. If you check your host's dns config of your website you should normally find it.

Basicly when you see www2 or www3 or something it's just a generally accepted form of having the site on multiple servers (e.g. to have less stress on the hosting server when there's alot of ppl browsing to the site).

So in the end, www2 or www or just nothing at all are all subdomains pointing to something. Hence why you can have www.com it LOOKS like there's no address but in reality it's www.www.com or http://www.com or http://www.www.com

Hope that cleared it up

EDIT:

Why people started using a www subdomain is a mystery to me, it's just more characters to type when you're typing in a website url..
