Gaming Did you enjoy Twilight Princess for the Wii?

There's a pretty big price difference in used copies of TP for the Wii or GC (GC averages around £45 with the Wii version being around £5). I know that the game is flipped and the controls kind of suck but aside from that is it still a good zelda game? I'd really rather not pay the extra £40 but I know people complain about the Wii version a lot. Any tips?

EDIT: Forgot to mention I don't have a wii u so the HD remake is off the table for me.

I've never heard anybody complain about the Wii version. If you don't have a Wii U for the HD remake, then I'd recommend the Wii version.

well its quite obvious the definitive version is the wiiu version and that is based off the GC version only problem with the wii version is the controls I would say though

it is different from the normal zeldas so I get why it might not sit well with everyone (not nearly as different as botw but still quite different). I just like how it's a more mature take on the series and at a £5 price point I'm willing to try it ahah

just fair warning the wii version is home to 2 game breaking glitches might want to look those up to make sure you dont encounter them just need to make sure not to save in certain places

Personally, I like the Wii controls, particularly when using the Hero's Bow. If you're not sure if you'll like the Wii controls, you could always try playing a backup using a USB loader first.

My first experience with Twilight Princess was through the Wii version. (I did not learn until much later that there even was a Gamecube version!) I thoroughly enjoyed Twilight Princess for the Wii, and since from my perspective both versions are practically equivalent, I say let price be your guide.

thanks, that really helps. I want to enjoy twilight princess but when there's a chance for me to save £40 I'd rather take the cheap route ahaha

I liked both, but the controls of Skyward Sword were the only ones that ever gave me any issues.

Really? I 100% completed the game in normal and hero mode and had close to no issues

For me, the pointer controls in Skyward Sword were sluggish and required regular D-pad recalibration relative to the pointer controls in Twilight Princess.

The sword controls were mostly okay in Skyward Sword, but there were a few instances when I felt punished for acting quickly. The Ghirahim battles were the only times it was significantly broken. The sword controls were too simple to cause any problems in Twilight Princess.

The rest of the motion controls in Skyward Sword (the bird, the beetle, etc.) were great.

one of the big reasons the gamecube version is expensive is its exploit hability.
its one of the (dozen?) games that can be used to launch the gamecube exploits. (and due to the nature of the gamecube, unless you have a modchip, you require an original game or a third party loader disc)

other reason is the gamecube is one of the expensive consoles if you want to get into gamecube stuff..
i notice all things about the gamecube, especially accessories are way more expensive than other consoles..
just the network adapter for the gamecube goes for crazy prices and it's not like a rare accessory..

I had no problems with the Wii version. Most of the time you wouldn't even notice that it's been "flipped", unless you've played the GC or Wii U version. It looks pretty natural in that regard.

Everyone has different opinions on the controls, I thought they were fine, but noticed you have to swing the remote a bit harder than you do in Wii Sports tennis, so occasionally when I was feeling lazy, the swings wouldn't register. Aiming with the Bow / Hookshot is unquestionably better, and it still uses button presses for some types of attacks. Being able to freely move the camera (like with the C-Stick) would be nice, but the camera's smart enough that you won't really need it, plus you can always center the view with Z.

Also on Wii you can have 3 to 4 items set to the D-Pad and B buttons (it's a bit weird), while only 2 on GameCube.
