I don't know if this is possible but it just came to me. Is it possible to change the color of the blue LED that indicates the system is on? I know how some people don't like the blue light so it would be cool if you could change it to something else that doesn't bother them as much.

You can only change it to either blue, red, or maybe off (I think ctraging was able to do this)

How does the firmware version affect it? Any idea?

yls8 must have been on an ancient firmware when he bricked (like 4.x or something), so I guess that was the reason why he bricked. Also, Ninty got their shit together a bit more with the release of the new3DS, so that's why it got stable at 8.1/9.0 :P

Oh of course, and 11.2 has more stability™ than ever!

Is there anything MCU-related that isn't safe to play around with now, to your knowledge?

Currently all mcu::HWC functions are safe to play with (yes, even mcuWriteRegister, I have tried writing into all registers, and my old3DS still works, and you can reset the MCU state just by removing the battery for a minute or so) :P

I have tested that to disable the power LED, works fine with me: https://www.reddit.com/r/3dshacks/comments/53mwvs/bipolar_turn_off_your_power_led/
(it displays also the % state of the battery charge level :-p)
Tested working on o3DSL XL A9LH Luma 6.2.2. Tested means I ran it on my console without trying to break it, without putting it to sleep, just as it was intented to use, then ran a normal mode game and an extended mode game. Please don't try to break it.
If he hasn't tried to break it, it hasn't been tested properly/fully.

Just a fair warning to all, unless you have the money to buy a new 3DS tomorrow, I'd recommend you steer clear of this (admittedly awesome sounding) homebrew.

wut. it's perfectly safe! it's as safe as using the 3DS sytem itself... at least on 8.1 and above, below that there's indeed a brick warning!

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

@BigOnYa i was legitimately trying to scratch my leg, this is reminding me of that cylinder post

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go

Ken unless the games are made for that screen size most suck on a screen that size... Having a square screen and being brighter and higher res helps but it's not a cure all, text is tiny bullets are tiny, your.... Well lol
