It depends on how much you pay and where you get them from. My boyfriends' and I all got decals for our 3DS's a few years back. We paid like 30$ for each of them. Thus far none of them have faded, plead off, ect. I don't remember the site we got them from though.

I'd say it would look better on a black one than on a white one (so you're in the good case in my opinion). It would look like "white marble decal with black outlines and details" rather than "white everything but not the same white everywhere because we failed".
