I Really don't feel like shelling out $50+ to back up one Pokemon Yellow Save File from my cart. All I want is to save my legit mews from this one cart, I will never need a Flash Boy etc. ever again after that, does anyone in North Hollywood have one I could just use once? Or any other way to accomplish this?

gba exploder? I think that's what it's called, either that or gba backup tool, can't recall which, but I backed up all my gba games and saves from the cartridges using that tool on a ds.

I bought the gbxcartrw and I am happy with it, there is no method without paying a price, except ofc you know someone who would do it for you

If you might ever be interested in playing n64 games on-console, there is always the option of a n64 flashcart with a gb transfer pack. Yeah, that'll probably be way more expensive than $50, but if you were to be using it a lot for playing games besides just doing save data backups, I'd say that may make up for the cost.

Otherwise if you don't necessarily care about keeping the cartridge, there may be someone you could mail the game to who could backup the save data for you. Then depending on how much you care about the cart itself, you could have them send it back to you afterwards, or let them keep it in exchange for their service.

Yea love mine
Hey, does it allow writing BGB emulator created save games to a genuine Pokemon Crystal cart?

Sorry for the noob question, it's just that I'm not sure regarding the save game format compatibility and the device's capacity to write to original carts.

You don't have a lot of options here. If someone near you has a gameboy cartridge reader, that's great. Aside from that, if you happen to have an arduino laying around I've heard you can use one of those. But you're talking about easily $50+ worth of time and effort to make that work. You're far better off just buying the right device for the job.

How "legit" are these legit mews on your cart? Did you use glitches to get them, or are these actually mews that they used to give out at pokemon events many years ago? Assuming you glitched them in, I doubt there'd be much different between these mews and the ones you can download online for use with PKHeX.

I also got the GBxCart. I bought it for getting GameBoy camera images onto my PC but it also works to dump and restore save files to it so you can keep your saves backed up in the cloud and restore them whenever. Or you could play on an emulator and move the file back and forth. It's only $30 + shipping so should at least come out to less than your '$50+' estimate.

You can even use it to program flash carts which I'd like to do if I can ever find any in stock.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.

@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
