I want to know how to downgrade via HAN. It was on the list of things you could with the newest exploit, however I want to learn how to do it myself. It never explicitly said how to do it, so I was wondering if you guys could help me maybe?

I want to know this also. I have an old 4 port Phat model, and it seems limited using Han with the latest firmware, and I'd very much like to get in on this downgrading business.

You are only able to downgrade using CFW or an E3 Flasher. You need to install 4.84 HFW (Hybrid FirmWare) and install the web exploit through http://ps3xploit.com, installing any CFW afterwards. At the current time, the Writer you need to do this has not been made for 4.84, only 4.82.

Now the that the writer has been made available I do not know how to use it, could you enlighten me on how to?

Find out whether your console is fat (in which case also find out whether it's NAND or NOR, you can do that via the model number) or slim (in which case ensure it's flashable, all 20xx and 21xx are, for 25xx perform a minverchk)

Go to the flash writer's webpage (NAND or NOR as appropriate - all slims are NOR; USB or HDD at your choice) and follow the instructions, for the USB variant you must put a file on a flash drive (that must be usable on the XMB) inserted into the port you select, for the HDD variant you must download a "picture" first from the exploit webpage

Then set the exploit webpage as the browser's home, reboot the console, and try performing the exploit (which isn't guaranteed to work reliably, it's a hack after all)

Once you successfully perform the flash writer, just update to a 4.84 CFW of your choice via USB (just like you did to install the hybrid 4.84/82)

From there you can install and run homebrew, including the kind that enables the QA flag and makes your console downgradable even on OFW (of course, once you have 4.84 CFW, there isn't much practical reason to downgrade in the first place!)

Thank you for the help! I greatly appreciate it!

Yep, me too. Thanks for letting me know that the site was updated, and how I could get custom firmware on my PS3 after putting HFW on it. I've got it running REBUG again, and life is good.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.
    +1
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
and nope the number still doesnt change
