TWLoader is bloated, buggy and slow. A file browser is all I need and that's what nds-hb-menu provides.

This does not. It is a CIA, which is exclusively for the 3DS. However, it runs boot.nds, aka the DSi homebrew menu, which can be run on a DSi (or even a 3DS) with Sudokuhax (or 4Swordhax, or ugopwn, etc.).

I just updated the latest release with files for HiyaCFW on dsi. It works with the same exact compability as the cia on 3ds. Strangely the compability with homebrew of this nds_hb-menu fork is still somewhat better that SRLoader and TWLoader but I am working with Robz8 to fix that.

No, this doesn't do DLDI patching. It only supports running DSi homebrew, not DS flashcart homebrew.
