DSx86 0.30

How do I go about installing windows on it?Get the Windows 3.00a installer files, put them on the SD card, use DSx86 to navigate to the directory with the installer, run setup.exe and follow the instructions.I actually installed within DOSBox and then transplanted the install directory to my SD card. XD

You previously had to run it in real mode.

so how do you switch from "real mode" to "protected mode?"

okay...got the .ima files..used Winimage to open them..extracted the total 7 disk content to a folder on my SD card....didn't get past the second screen because it can't create a directory

WAIT.. SD mode is read-only..so it CANT create a directory.

You just use "win" to run it. Previously you had to use "win /r" to run it in real mode.

What I did was actually run the install from within dosbox, and then move the Windows directory to the SD.

okay...used the FILE MANAGER to run some of the unsupported OPCODE games...and uhm..now they are giving me a I/O Error..

Gotcha, I hadn't tried it yet and didn't notice the different "About" windows. Cool. :-)

Using the "/r" was never required, it would just boot into real mode automatically... Another reason I didn't notice.

Now that I've poked around w/ the new version, there is more RAM available after running Windows than on previous versions. Nice side effect.

Hover Doesn't work...I/O Error

damn I loved that game :/

When I run a DOS game or even some Windows 3.x elements..(like DOS PROMPT)

I get a "Unsupported Opcode" OR "Unsupported Port I/O from DSx86.....Then I can push B to go back and exit out of the error

Then I get an Insufficient Disk Space Error on Windows 3.x's end.


even certain DOS games (Like Crystal Caves) that run fine under DSX86 Mode (DOS Mode) dont work in Windows 3.x..I get some sort of error...

is this the way it is for now?

Still getting "DOS/16M error [15] PROTECTED MODE available only with 386 or 486 With C-Dogs (Cyberdogs)

any fix for this yet?....or will there be?..or is it just software limitations

can I run these games under Windows 3.00a?

It still only emulates a 286, so those requiring a 386 or higher still wont run regardless of the protected mode.

easy way for me
get windows 3.00a
extract it and place inside a folder in your sd card
go to dsx86 and type cd (name of the folder here) 'enter'
type setup.exe 'enter'
press enter
and again press enter,
now it may give you some errors
just press B button until you see the keyboard in the touch screen now press A button
uncross every box and press 'enter'
now wait........
now it may ask you to reboot press return to DOS
in dos type win 'enter'

Congratulations you have windows 3.0a in your DS.

Now i just need help with the mouse it's so stupid when using it, can someone help me?
