FromSoftware has a new game "in the final stages of development"
FromSoftware is a large development studio with a lot on the go; in 2018, the president of the company, Hidetaka Miyazaki, discussed the projects the studio had in the works. Miyazaki said there were "3.5" games in development, with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice being one, Elden Ring being another, and the ".5" game being their PSVR title Deracine. This left one game unaccounted for, and after the immensely popular reception of Elden Ring, many were curious to know what was next for FromSoft. During a recent interview with the Japanese website 4Gamer, Miyazaki provided an update: that the unannounced game is in its final stages of development, and that yet another game directed by himself personally was already in the works.
4Gamer: When we interviewed you about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in 2018, you said there were 3.5 development lines underway, two of them unannounced. Elden Ring ended up one of the unannounced titles, but is the other one still in development?
Hidetaka Miyazaki: “Yes, development is currently in the final stages.”
4Gamer: What are your goals as a director? With Elden Ring wrapped up, is there anything that you want to do in the future or are interested in doing?
Miyazaki: “I’m already working on my next title as a director, so I’d like to avoid giving too much away there… In the mid-to-long term, I would like to work on a more abstract fantasy than anything we’ve done in the past.”
