Hi, I’m quite new to doing any hardware modifications to any console and wanted to install a backlit screen into my GBA. I’m having an issue were the Game Boy will turn on but the screen will glitch out and make a distorted noise. I have tried reconnecting the ribbon cables a few times and that hasn’t changed anything. Please if you have any suggestions, let me know.

Below are photos of circuit board and example of the screen glitch and making noise:

1) Was the system working before the mod?
2) Have you checked to make you haven't bridged anything when soldering?
3) Have you made sure your additions aren't shorting against anything (e.g. the PCB on the screen against the solder joints for the cart slot, maybe try some electrical tape).
4) Have you cleaned the cartridge port/cart?

I noticed as well there looks like corrosion on parts of the PCB.

I don't know about the scrolling, but in the past when I've seen the Nintendo logo corrupt it was usually dirty connections on the cart slot.

Did you isolated the PCB of the replacement LCD?

Normally they come with an Isolation Foil that should be placed between the LCD PCB and the LCD to prevent the PCB getting shorted on the Metal of the LCD.

Kapton tape, at the very least.
