Hardware EZ Flash Jr + Generic GBA IPS V2 Black Screen

I'm having an issue with my modded GBA using a generic IPS V2 kit when using the EZ Flash Jr. The menu boots just fine, but when load any game the screen shuts off. I can still hear the game running but can't see a thing. This also happens when I hit the reset button on the cart. This happens regardless of the screen's brightness. What I'm wandering is will replacing the ribbon cable with a FunnyPlaying one fix the problem or is this a power draw issue?
