Today is August 15th and that means it's Sonic Mania Day! (No, not THAT Sonic Mania Day). The game is now OUT on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch.

To celebrate the release of Sonic Mania, GBAtemp is giving away 2 copies of the game on your platform of choice as a digital code.

The rules are quite simple, we will be selecting 1 random viewer of the stream as a winner, and alternatively another copy will be available via this thread if you can't watch the stream. All you have to do is post in this thread and let us know what is your favourite Sonic level (from any Sonic game) and why (a sentence or two minimum). The 2nd winner will be randomly selected from the thread in 48 hours from the time of this post.

Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2 for obvious reasons :3 Hope everybody enjoys the game, it'll be a month or so before I can grab it!

My favorite level has to be Tropical Resort from Sonic Colors. The moment when I booted Dolphin in 1080p and saw those timeless graphics, I was blown away! In terms of classics, it's tied between Green Hill (dat music) and Mushroom Hill (those bouncy shrooms ).

Casino Night is my favorite. I like it because of the atmosphere, not to mention the pinball table/slot machine. That level was the BEST. I'm qurupecohunter on Twitch, but I don't know if I will attend the stream or not.

My favorite sonic level would have to be hydrocity zone (either act, although i like act 1's boss) from sonic 3 and knuckles. The music itself is one of my favorites and i constantly listen to it while doing homework, but the different paths you can take in that level offer drastic changes in gameplay. The bottom path being completely water for most of it and the top part being a traditional sonic level with gaps and the middle part a strange hybrid of the two. I found that this level was the most dynamic in what it brang to a sonic level. Additionally, the moments where the hand comes out of the ground and charges you up for a spin dash was so cool, I didn't think they would do anything besides springs or little boost pads. It also felt great running across water, you could really feel the speed in that level while still maintaining a good amount of challenge from basic platforming.

My favorite Sonic level is the first one from the first Sonic game. Pretty easy reason, it is the first game of the series that I've played and it was the first impression I had from Sonic.

It's not that I ~can't~ watch the stream, but rather that I want to experience the game without any spoilers. I'm actually looking forward to it, and want to go into it like back when I was a kid. Random screenshots, no videos, no real information. XD

Favorite Sonic level? The special stages from Sonic 3 + Knuckles. So MANY different stages, and all playable. I'm glad to have heard they're making a return here.

My favorite Sonic level would have to be City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 for multiple reasons, the first being that the BGM is just SO GOOD! The second being that the level was so fun to play and it gets better every time I play it.

so here's my entry for the second giveaway:

i don't have kite a favorite but i am gonna go with one very remarkable of my childhood.
sonic 1 labyrinth zone 2... i take a long time to play the levels of the games, because i love to explore everything...
when i was a kid i took forever to get into labyrinth zone (i took hours to get into this level), only to die of "time over" in act 2... the amount of times i had to turn off my mega drive after loosing the labyrinth zone.. not only the time overs, but getting out of air gave me so much pain..
funny tough, i remember trying to hold my breath the same amount of time sonic could hold it and almost passing out because of that "joke"

I like Aquatic Ruin zone from Sonic 2. The boss is fun, and the underwater parts are.... (ahem) interesting. The music is also nice.

While I can't watch the stream due to crappy internet and to avoid spoilers, I can tell about why I love Chemical Plant Zone.

Chemical Plant Zone comes right after Emerald Hill Zone, you got the hang of how you should play the game already and now it is time to take the kid gloves off and go FAST. The level design emphasizes Sonic and its speed, you are always going fast, there are many paths you can take, and even its gimmick (the tubes) is fun, it also teaches you how water is bad and it has some great focus on platforming, and of course, the soundtrack, not matter what variant of it, is fucking great. Chemical Plant is a great introduction to Sonic and it makes you feel "WOOOOAH" after getting the hang of it in Emerald Hill Zone. Also, due to this, and a few other things, Sonic 2 is also my favorite classic era Sonic game.

Anyway, have fun streaming Sonic Mania! I will wait until August 29th to play it (And probably it will take longer, since I am lacking the money to buy it and I don't want to pirate, Taxman and Stealth deserve every penny for this game)

I have to say Sonic Adventure's Casinopolis level, it was tough level to beat when I was younger but I did love the pinball machine farming.
NiGHTS pinball made the level truly worth playing over and over again.

I have enjoyed the metropolis zone from sonic 2. dont know why but it always seemed to have a nice conforting music to it.

Omg, I remembered how cool was Final Rush from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I was amazed how sonic was fighting and speeding against shadow in space!

My favorite level is Stardust Speedway. The music is godlike in CD and racing against Metal Sonic was hella fun.
