Here goes a little tutorial on getting hbmenu working on firmware 1.0.0 and up to 3.0.0.

Requirements:
- A switch with FW 1.0.0 or up to 3.0.0
- PegaSwitch access
- loader.pfs0 renamed to loader.nsp (you can build it from source) Download: Google Drive
- hblauncher.nro - Official website

Step one
Put hblauncher.nro and loader.nsp in the root of your MicroSD

Step two
Launch PegaSwitch with your favourite method

Step three
Run this javascript snippet: https://pastebin.com/UBLJsgse
To do this, save that snippet to a javascript file and call it something like "hbmenu.js", then from PegaSwitch run:

evalfile usefulscripts/hbmenu.js

Step four
Close your browser and open the Gallery App. Hbmenu should launch

Post note: As other people confirmed (and to no one surprise) the majority of Homebrew designed for 3.0.0 surely won't work.

PPT is for 1.0 only

@weatMod Yes you need to run PPT one time on 1.0 to be able to install fake news

Please pardon my ignorance, but, could you tell me what SOL stands for, please? (I get that PPT is Puyo Puyo Tetris, but I couldn't find anything on SOL)

Also, I'm on 2.0.0, I thought the only way of getting HBC was to be on 1.0.0 or 3.0.0, can the firmwares inbetween get HBC now?

For those who asked: you steel need Puyo Puyo Tetris S (JAP) in order to launch the browser the first time.
Also on 1.0.0 you should set

Tried it but get Error Code 2162-0002 when opening Album on my 1.0.0 machine.
Pegaswitch (launched via fake news) returns no output after running hbmenu.js but I expect that is normal.
SD is formatted to FAT32 with the 2 files on root.
Any idea what I maybe doing wrong?

WAIT - I didn't read/rename the file... one sec!

Yeah - works fine after renaming the file to nsp. I was just being an idiot.
So I tested some nros before my battery ran out.

Hamsters DX - works
Zelda Solarus - works until just after entering name and selecting profile (2345-0021)
Pixel Painter - works
TicTacToe - works
SpaceNX - fails immediately 2162-0002

For now it seems like PPT is the only way to run the browser and thus PegaSwitch.

So can I skip the step 1 and 2 of updating to 3.0? Can I do the same process on 2.1, it works now? Because all the sites told to update to 3.0 first

Yes, skip that, it was for the HBL that only ran on 3.0.0. That's not the case anymore.
