I recently stumbled upon these hall effect joycon sticks on Amazon, but I wonder if they're fake or real. Has anyone purchased these? It says they are from Gulikit but manufactured by Aknes. I know Gulikit was making hall effect joycon sticks but I thought they're not out yet. There is no customer reviews on Amazon on these.

What do you guys think?

EDIT:

Apparently these are real as they work and they are now on official Gulikit site. User binkinator has bought and tested these. (pics and review by him below on his posts.)

Gulikit has a product page for these. Does not mention hall-effect or magnets anywhere on it.

Replacement stick? Probably. Hall effect? Probably not.

Ones that are on Gulikit site are part number: NS28 and these are Part number NS40 which should make these entirely different product. Heres an image with part number from the ones on Amazon.

I saw vids on Chinese youtube saying this hall effect joystick(Gulikit model) need extra hard wire and this type draws more power than normal joystick. BUT it does works better!
Interesting. In the amazon ad, they even brag about them consuming less power. Weird.

The one on their site is for their Elves controller. The Elves controller does not feature magnetic sticks so it would make sense it's a different model.

Amazon is hustling today. Was planning on wrapping up my Switch battery project before they come in today. Might get distracted….

This looks promising. Can't wait to see how those joysticks perform. If there are no mayor problems with the installation, these joysticks will be an instant buy for me.

@binkinator are you going to open these up to verify they are indeed hall sensors? I think I might order some but it does feel like it might not actually be hall sensors. Skeptical about this…

Commenting to get pinged when one of you writes a review. TBH, I’m more interested in better/sturdier sticks for the pro controller. Bought a 4 (or 5?) pack of regular replacements because I tear them up playing Metroid Dread… changed at least 3 already…

I think it will be pretty obvious if the gimbal mechanism is in place under the pop off joystick caps.

I might tear one down for the team after I get a set installed.

Chinese YT Gulikit joystick install vid. No Eng sub unfortunately

it looks like it’s going to be just like any other old thumb stick replacement. a test of my patience but nothing too difficult.

I think the advert speaks for itself when it says “…cover the back shell and screw it.” 😂

If they’re anything like the Steam Deck sticks, the deadzones and sensitivity are gonna suck…
Haven’t tried the ones for the steam deck yet. going to wait for when they start drifting. Does the dead zone and sensitivity adjustments not work?

Didn’t think of that but will at least tell you if they are different or not. May not tell you if they are hall though. Guess I will watch this thread. Thanks for biting the bullet for the community!

Testing a Hall Effect Sensor

There are a few ways to check a Hall Effect sensor that comes to mind. The first and most often gotten wrong test is to hold the sensor in your hand while it is hooked up to an ohm meter, then brush a metal object such as a wrench over the sensor. You should see some movement in the meter. Now this is not an absolute-for-sure test that indicates the sensor is in good condition. Although it does show whether or not the sensor can register a signal this is not a good/bad test result. You’ll need to test it further to be sure.

Sauce: http://www.gonzostoolbox.com/knowledgefolder/halleffectsensors.html

I have a wrench and a multi-meter. Unless anyone has a better suggestion I’m going to try this ^^^^

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
