1. I was researching how to edit a title and this suggestion fixed 99% of what I was looking to do... THANKS!
2. I used modmii to tell me what I needed to update before the above suggestion. Thank you for the detail here you went into which helps me understand this more. Below is an update to what I have on now. I need to do some more research to understand what all the different CIOS's do, mean, and how to change by slot. Hopefully modmii didn't put me into a worse situation. I'm just starting to play around with MMM v13.4 but I don't fully understand it. Those games you mention I would probably never use on a wii as I own COD on my Xbox1 and RGH that I use for HD gaming. This system is more for keeping my nintendo specific gamecube games and wii games that are getting scratched up over time on a hard drive which I prefer because my kids use it mostly and they load faster.
3. The different Nand emulation functions I'm going to have to find and play with. I mostly wanted to increase my NAND to see if I can push the wads I own all to external hard drive so it's an easy back up of all my content in one place if the wii or sd card fail. Most the WAD's I own are NES, SNES, and N64. I'll comb the list you linked to see if the games I own are of issue. I use to own several wads but was unable to keep all on wii because of limited memory. I may just increase the 4gb SD card to a 8gb card which would cover my needs and make a back up of that as well. It appears the GX function of dump NAND put it on my SD or my WADs are installing to my SD because it filled up pretty quick. If I can't figure out if dragging and dropping the 8 NAND dumped files I created with Simple FileSystem Dumper 0.2 onto the external drive with my wii and gamecube game folders and an easy way to point GX or a WAD installer software to installing my WADS to USB i'll just leave it be. I built several xbmc 3.5.3 classic xboxes for fun with all types of different interfaces like coinops 8 r5, premium 8 r4, hypervision 4, FBL v1.22, xneorain, CPX3, KI v1.2 and latest madmab emulators for every system the old xbox can emulate with the resurrection xtras with video previews, start screen/box art synopsis's, game manuals, and too much to name in 720p which looks better than my wads on my higher resolution tv. I'm sure if I ever want to do retro gaming I'll find it somewhere on there!

You've been a huge help so thank you for your time. Although this was a lot of fun this took days longer than I wanted it to haha but that would have been a lot longer if you wouldn't have answered so quickly as I quickly became obsessed with the interface once I figured it could all be in one loader and be similar to dashboards from other modded systems like FSD, Aurora, or MultiMan . I think I can put this to bed and hand the old girl back to the kids and make a back up of my games just in case they drop the hard drive.

Syscheck gives you/us a detailed information about your Wii. It takes 5min to do? Why not do it?

Its not your problem at all. First of all, if you use " formatted to wbfs with wbfs manager but when i put the usb" the usb is called wbfs format. Not fat32 or NTFS.

You should however format your usb to FAT32 to play wii and gamecube games, Follow these instructions:

Play Wii/Gamecube games from USB-drive
A. Format your USB to FAT32 with cluster size 32KB using FAT32 Format. Download to Desktop and Run. Select Drive and '32768' as Allocation unit Size. Choice a Volume Label, Mark Quick Format and Start the Format Progress. Like this - http://i.imgur.com/E6CXvPP.png
B. To Play Gamecube Games - Create a folder 'games' inside the FAT32 HDD. Download and Open DMToolbox v.0.3 (Windows XP version) (Works with Windows 7). Click 'black folder' in Gamecube ISO: and select your GameCube ISO file . Click 'yellow folder' in Output dir: and choose any folder (i.e. Desktop) . Finally Press Install . After installation is complete, in Desktop move the GAMEID folder to USB:\games\ .
C. To Play Wii Games - Download and Open WiiBackupManager . Click 'Drive 1' and select USB-drive from 'inactive' . Click 'Files' - 'Add - Files' and select your Wii ISO file(s) . Lastly Click 'Transfer - Drive 1' to put all Wii ISO file(s) into your USB-drive .
D. Remove USB-drive from Computer and plug into Wii . Also plug in Gamecube controller and Gamecube Memory Card in Wii .
E. Turn on your Wii. Launch USB Loader GX . Press this icon (Loader Mode) !! ( http://i.imgur.com/ioqV74i.png ) . Select Wii Games and GC Games .
F. Done! :)

Then you should use as mentioned WiiBackupManager and not WBFS Manager. WiiBackupManager is used on FAT32 USB's.

PS: If you have alot of games on Your USB/WBFS device- And dont want to loose then in a formating process. Use this method -
http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-convert-from-wbfs-to-fat32-or-ntfs.292391/ - wbfs to fat32 converter

Now, games on USB aside. We move on to the Console.
What you probably know or not, is that you need a d2x cIOS installed on the Wii . Thats why we want you to do this syscheck so we can see if you has it or not.

_Do this_

1. Syscheck
2. Format your USB with FAT32 Format and put games on your FAT32 USB with WiiBackupManager.
3. Alt. put gamecube games on your FAT32 USB with DMToolbox ... explained above,
4. Get latest version of USB Loader GX from Cyan's note - its here - USBGX r1231

Then, we need to know if you got a d2x cIOS or not.
If you don't want to do a Syscheck - Alt. Open USBGX - goto Settings - Credits
and its displayed if you have d2x or not - like this - http://i.imgur.com/G2gI1Pj.jpg .. thats my Credits screen .

If you have an d2x cIOS then SupermarioSmash should work as normal.. but you probably need the latest version of usb loader gx. -

Furst, I urge you to do a Syscheck .

We now established by your image that you dont have an d2x cIOS.
And without the information how your Wii was softmodded its dangerous to continue.

please. do a syscheck.

I know this old. But you helped me out a TON!

Hats off to all you that know this stuff!!

I followed all the steps, having the same issues as him.... followed your advice.

Worked like a charm.

Thanks again.

I've been snooping around this thread for 2 days now trying this and that but to no avail did my problems get solved. I followed Bootmii v6.4.1 with care but whenever I Start my downloaded Wii games it would become a dark screen then after while it would return to HomeBrew Channel. I didnt ask for help because I dont think anyone would look back at this 3 year old thread... but still I'm Hoping someone would :'(

There is a pinned USB Loader GX support thread in this forum. Please post there and say what exact version you're using and whether you've verified that your game is a good dump.

Your d2x cIOSes are a bit wonky. Recommended: IOS249[56], IOS250[56], (optiontally) IOS251[58]. Don't use v10-beta53. It's very flaky. Just use v8 or v10-beta52.

Hello, can anyone help me please? I'm having a black screen issue right now when I load into Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 NTSC U via USB loader GX. Initially I had this black screen issue for the Super Mario Galaxy NTSC U game too, but I managed to load the game (SMG) by changing some settings (change video mode to Force NTSC, Change game language to English, game ios to 250 and Error fix 002 to Yes). After this settings worked for SMG I went to check if it works for Naruto game but I have no luck (it shows black screen again during game loading).

ohhh, if you still have "fix 002" setting, then your USBLoaderGX version is too old. please update it.
try using slot250 globally instead of 249 in your settings. (not in individual game settings), as base57 will always have better compatibility.

Play games the same region than your console.

Check your game integrity with WiiBackupManager>option>Sha1, if result is red your ISO is bad.

HEY QUICK SOMEONE HELP ME OUT!
im having the same problem hes having ill post my sys check in another post
if you have "THE SAME" issue, then fix it with "THE SAME" solution, no need to ask for help as the solution is already provided ;)
"I have the same issue, please give me the same solution"

your problem is : you don't have (the correct) cIOS installed.
follow a softmod guide for Wii. (not vWii)
yeah, it was the exact same solution greywolf provided JUST before your post.

You even posted a syscheck, why couldn't you read it and see by yourself, compare it with other users, see that compared to other users you miss "slot249/250" and make relation with the provided solution to other users "install cIOS 249/250" that you miss.
sometime I just wonder why people don't read (even in real life issues).

Hi Cyan, thanks for replying. I updated my USB Loader Gx to Ver3.0 R1262. Changed settings ( Both Loader's ios and Game's ios to 250 (not the game individual settings)) I checked my Naruto individual settings (Loader settings) I have my video mode: Force Ntsc, my Game ios: 250 and Language: English. I also checked game integrity with WiiBackupManager and the result shows green color. However, I still couldn't get the game loading (still in black screen). Can I not play games from other region? (The Naruto game is US ver but my console is 4.3J)

japanese region is sometime the problem (in both way, jp game on other region consoles too).
try to enable another individual setting, maybe something called language fix ? or region fix ? I don't remember

do you have a way to test that same game but in japanese? just to know if the problem is the game itself or the region which is not compatible ?
some games don't work at all, as they have antipiracy check. there are not a lot, but they exist. (maybe about 10 games)

Very simple answer:
The way to put 4gig+ wii games onto your USB, is using WBFS Manager or WiiBackupManager.
With WiiBackupManager you also see how the 4gig+ game is splitted into smaller files, as FAT32 only handles 3gig files.

Could you help me on my post too? I have my system check pictures ready for you to dissect :)

you didn't install the needed files, of course it doesn't work.
I have tried to run d2x cIOS installer Mod 2.2 but i get the error TMD version wrong 5663!=5662
I don't know that error.

first, there are 2 different installer version :
one for Wii, one for wiiU vWii mode. don't mix them!

the installer doesn't have any "data to install", it's just the program. you need to provide the additional data to install to your console.
here is a pack "d2x installer ready to use for wii".
extract into sd:/apps/d2x_installer/ folder

be sure you don't have ANY wad file to your SD card's root.
be sure you have a working internet connection on your console.

install this :
slot 249 : v8 final, base 56
slot 250 : v8 final, base 57
(not the best setup, but lot of people like it this way....)

maybe it had issue contacting/downloading files from nintendo's servers.
be sure you don't have any filtering in place (if you hacked the 3DS or wiiU before, maybe you have some filters to prevent the console from accessing the update server?)

go to the loader settings, set the loader's IOS to 58.
this is a temporary fix.

I'm working on a new version, you could test it if you want but it's beta.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/0cx2u7djap8szw4/USBLoaderGX+r1269_mod01.7z
use it only as test to see if it fix your detection issue, but don't keep that version as stable and everyday use.
revert to r1268 for the everyday use, with Loader'IOS setting set to 58 until I release the new (non beta) 1269.

That would be useful to me if you give me your test result. but I think it's still not fixed correctly.

I tried the setting you suggested but it did not work. But it did work to reinstall the same version of usb loader and i can now see and play the games =)
But i cant install the forwarder, multi mod manager says nothing but "1 did not succeed" should i use some other wad manager?

don't use multi mod manager, very bad choice, bad program, closed source, bad dev, old and not working on vWii.
don't choose random (old) program, new console means new requirements.

Please, use this manager :
https://github.com/FIX94/Some-YAWMM-Mod/releases

About the test, I don't understand what you did, as I provided 2 different things to try.
1. did you try the 1269_mod1 without changing the settings?
2. did you try the 1268 with setting the loader's IOS to 58 ?

I suppose you did only "2", and it should have worked. that's what all users with the same issue are doing, and it's working.
but then you said you reverted (set loader's IOS back to 249 ?) and it works. then, I don't know why it didn't work the first time.
so, now you have the default settings with r1268? good.

Yes i only tried the first option but i can still test the new version if you like? I just installed a few games and connected the hdd to the wii again (but the wrong usb port)
and the usb loader did not detect the drive. closed usb loader and changed the usb port and started it again and still no games so i deleted usb loader and replaced it
with the same version again (1268) and the games where there....
