don't need to do the base game if there's a patch, but you need to use the base game to build the backported patch pkg. it's required, so it's best to keep all pkgs you download on an hdd as backup, because you might need the base pkg. if you have to repackage the patch, like if it came from a different source, the base game will be needed to do so as well.

this is not needed all that often though, because most people are using the same dumps of the game. however, if you were to use those backport apps, you'd need the base pkg that's installed on your system or it will error upon installation, if it's a different dump, the patch that is.

Ahhh so meaning the base of every any game is important and that's how my game Catherine can play after I patch the base game. So it will be the same like for every other games. But the patch or update file is it important??

the main files that are backported are the eboot, modules, and param.sfo. I got a ways into understanding how backports work, but I quit after this new version of mira was announced that's supposed to make backporting obsolete.

that's essentially what those backporting apps are doing. they're using flat z's script files to make their changes. however, it doesn't take into account certain issues related to the sdk, so there's more to it than just resigning. that's why that don't always work. you have to use ghidra or ida to fix these things manually.

don't know. I know he was going to during the ps3 days, because the biggest problem with the scenes is that people steal others work and give no credit. it happens more often in the playstation scenes than any other or at least it's more public.

I think the dlc I downloaded for ff 7 remake has the uploader's name in place of the icon it shows when you go to system settings and look at what's installed. I understand it, but I don't like it when people do that.

no, it's the image that's displayed when you want to check what you have installed on the ps4 itself. it has the uploader's name instead of a final fantasy vii remake image.

it's from that pkg for final fantasy vii remake. I think it's the carbuncle summon based on the name. I haven't played the game though, so I don't really know for sure.
