Yeah... I have a bunch of burned PS1 games that my friend gave me and I have my other friends modded PS2.

Is there a way to play the burned PS1 games on a modded PS2?

Thanks : )

Just... put in in the ps2 and run it?
At least, that's what I normally do...

Try holding reset in for a couple of seconds or double tapping it with a ps1 game in. Might be a old chip that has to be manually put into psx/dvd mode.

It depends on the modchip, it would help if you told us what it is.

from experience...

with my old phat ps2..and my mod chip...to play ps1 games, i flip the switch to turn on the system, press eject, put game in, hold down reset to put system in stand by. then hold down reset again to turn on the system and keep holding down reset until the other coloured light comes on (i think it is blue..dont remmeber), then let go after that light came on. i think its roughly about 2 or 3 seconds to hold down..but just wait till the light comes on.

that is to start it up in ps1 mode or dvd mode for me.

ps2 games, i just turn on regular.

and somemore experience, with my cousin's modded slim ps2 (pstwo) with the flip top i think, dont even remember, but anyways, the skinny version....that one didnt play ps1 games.

btw, both situations..im talking about burned ps1 games:)

I just use the gameshark 2 bonus disk for ps1 games to boot ps1 backups
with the cogswap method in the gameshark and then just boot the game

Unless the chip adds it's name to the playstation 2 screen (like the matrix infinity adds infinity x.xx under it) then you don't tell without opening it. As for what chips can't play ps1 games , there was a budget no swap chip that only played ps2 games , but it's name escapes me at the moment. Apart from that , pretty sure all no swaps will play ps1 games , unless the sx wire hasn't be fitted or has come loose.
