Nintendo made a Wii emulator for Nvidia's Shield: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/...o-galaxy-hands-on-with-tegra-x1s-wii-emulator

Since it's running on the same processor as Switch, I think it can be ported. Has anyone tried doing that or is that impossible? I have no doubt eventually Nintendo will bring this emulator to Switch and starts selling Wii games - Switch is practically a portable Wii.
well you kinda need the source code in order to port something

I was thinking: ripping the emulator from Shield and make a wrapper for Switch - into a nsp that can be installed.

That's not how any of this works. "ripping the emulator from shield and make a wrapper for switch" Sorry pal you're clueless. It's Nintendo's emulator, it's closed source. You could try to reverse engineer it, but that's pointless. Dolphin is the only option.

"wrapping" wouldn't really work i think

its an android executable, you probably have to emulate android and then that emulates the wii?

I think if we could install Android TV OS on switch (it’s an open source) instead of just take that emu and try to put it on switch.
To take the advantage of switch portability.

I use a wrapper to play PC games on Mac so I thought this may be possible. If not, then we can wait for Nintendo to release it on Switch and use LayeredFS to add all the Wii roms.

You also forget, sure it's an emulator to some degree, but what degree is that? It's running it's own specific version of GameCube/Wii games. For example Twilight Princess. The GameCube version had an aspect ratio of 4:3. The Wii version had an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Wii version was also mirrored, everything flipped compared to the GameCube version. The shield TV version keeps the presentation of the GameCube version, meaning the world isn't mirrored, but it's also 16:9 like the Wii version.

He's trying to say that it's probably a remastered version. Or only part of the Wii is being emulated, the rest is running natively.

According to Digital Foundry (from the article I linked above):

There's plenty of other evidence that effectively confirms that Super Mario Galaxy is using emulation as opposed to being some kind of port. Aside from the overlays, there are no signs of any remastered elements whatsoever, so Super Mario Galaxy's original pre-rendered cutscenes present at an upscaled 480p, complete with ugly macroblocking.

I think if it were 100% emulation, the shield version of Twilight Princess would have already been dumped to be ran on dolphin. One would also think if it were true emulation, someone would have already swapped game files and booted up a random GameCube/Wii game.

This is why I'm asking: can it be done? You'll be surprised how many people aren't even aware of Nintendo games running on Shield.

Knowing Nintendo, they wouldn't waste time and resources porting 1 or 2 Wii games for Nvidia. They always have long term plans: making an emulator that can be use for selling Wii games on Switch later will be well worth the time and money.

In addition to not having the source code, of which Linus Torvalds shares his opinion of Nvidia down below,

(If only AMD could get a Ryzen-level of success on the GPU side of things, which may prove more difficult than going up against Intel unless they have ray-tracing in the works to try and compete with Nvidia in the future)

we're talking about a different OS for an emulator that's coded to run on a different piece of hardware that accounts for everything specific to the Shield. And I don't know much about everything in regards to the Joy-Cons, but who knows how the joy-cons would act for Wii games?

Granted, if it did work, I'd certainly rather use the joy-cons than whatever the fuck Nintendo was thinking with the Wii (having to be directly in front of an IR receiver is painful when I want to relax after a long day, and that's assuming that the Wiimote didn't go out of range for whatever reason).
