Hacking How to achieve Pokemon fire red cheats

So I recently purchased an EZ flash omega device, and I want to play Fire Red. All the cheats for providing from EZ are chinese language (this is too the case with Emerald version), so I deleted that library and used a convertor to use custom cheats. The version of ROM I have is the USA version, "Pokemon - FireRed (USA)" or something like this. However, even though I am able to get the cheat menu load with L+R+START, the game sort of just making a bumpy noise, and the cheat, if there is an effect at all, just causes the game to freeze unless I turn off. I try redownloading Fire Red v1.0 and ensure I am converting AR-Max code, yet I cannot make it to work at all(. What is going wrong here?
