Not really. I was never interested in hacking my Switch but if I was still on 3.0 I would've stayed.

I've not used such a feature in years.

I bet there is a hint of jealously and butthurt because you're on 3.0.1 and you won't get a slice of the apple pie, once the exploit is releasedB-)

It was actually banter in my post to make a joke out of it all. I have been around for a very long time to know full well about private exploits existing, making further opportunities available.

I have more shit to worry than video games, tbh. You think I'm really concerned I updated my Switch? Big whoop. I've thought about putting it on eBay but since I'm getting Mario Odyssey for £7, Xenoblade 2 for £19.99, Xenoverse 2 for £10.85, Binding of Isaac for £11.99 I'm just gonna keep it.

Would you mind sharing how you are getting Mario Odyssey for £7?

I'm not sure if I should get another Switch purely for homebrew, or wait and see if any other exploits will be released on higher firmware. It's always happened in the past, even though it's taken awhile. I refuse to believe that there are no exploits on the current FW that simply haven't been discovered yet.

Oh well too late for me I guess =/ if an homebrew like Hans come before Xenoblade 2 maybe I'll buy a new Switch (since for now I only want homebrew for undub). If not I don't really care honestly. I can live without for now

So a lot of threads about people complaining they updates to 3.0.1 and a lot of threads of people complaining they can't play because it requires 3.0.1

Rabbids will be the last title that should have a chance at being on older firmware. With leads times, shipping logistics, and seafare timetables, a good estimate on turn over of new hardware entering retail is about 2 to 3 months from time of internal patch realization and certification at Nintendo. Not realization of the patch on console, which would be delayed by several days or weeks to hit consumer end. This is true for hardware and software, but it is also an event horizon. After three or so months, you either bought a 3.0.0 or lower Switch and software, or you're buying it from scalpers for 300%+ markups.

We're two, approaching three, weeks removed from the live patch. Rabbids will hit retail two weeks from now but has or will likely ship before it is protected for 3.0.1 and given an on-cart patch. It should still end up on 2.2.0/2.3.0/3.0.0 but I can't say for sure when this was pushed out to the SDK. SDK keys could have been updated weeks before the patch was pushed to the consumer end.

Because Nintendo does not and cannot hold software hostage without a patch, they won't send the game out to retail with a forced 3.0.1 compliance but no patch. Rabbids will either launch with 3.0.1 compliance and a patch, or it won't have 3.0.1 compliance.

Other possible software to keep an eye out on with older compliance:
  • FIFA
  • Skyrim
  • Xenoverse 2
  • Rayman Legends: DE
  • LEGO Worlds
  • Retail Indie Releases
It would be ill advised to expect Pokken, Mario, Xenoblade, or anything else from Nintendo to not force 3.0.1.

Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They could use HD out on their TV no real need for a monitor these days tbh the purists will disagree
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'm kind of phasing out on the need for wanting all these consoles cool to have but they just become dust build ups
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I here ya there, I have too many myself, and have hard time letting them go, since most of mine I've modded at some point. Anymore I just play Switch on the go, seriesx at home.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I'm designing my own entertainment cabinet for my man cave, to store all my systems, then I'm also designing a power supply/HDMI switcher so I can switch to whichever system I want, and power it also. Already picked up the cabinet board, but tinkering with my drawings before start
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
But yea, I have frogger arcade cabinet that I gutted and put a Pi4 then Pi5 into, but it never gets played much anymore, should sell it. Even when the kids come over, they don't want to play on it, just the xbox. TMNT and Simpson's arcade is still so fun on it, esp w 2 players.
