Still hoping there's a way to negotiate this one in the near future. There are folks here that have been members for years, and I don't want to have to ignore them in order to not see a particular thread they may have posted (and sometimes even that's not an option). But there are some threads -- honestly and plainly -- I just don't wanna see each time I enter a particular forum. Some of this stuff hits me where it hurts, touching on ideas that I feel shouldn't even be discussed where they're being discussed.

Please give more consideration to implementing this feature.

Thank you.

No offense to you geeky, but people really underestimate the willpower abilities to scroll past bullshit and not waste a second of their precious time, much well invested into something fun and productive.

On a more serious note, honestly that would be incredibly useful.
1 pop-up and poof thread ignored, never shown again unless you deliberately try to find it again.

Of all the ignore and blocking functions common on the internet (which I dislike and refuse to use), this would be the most sensible. Ignoring a topic, that is aggravating for oneself, doesn't do harm and is no direct ignoring of a person (member) in general.

The questionable (← being polite here) political forum as well as the EOF being prime candidates for problematic threads, I've put those out of the view by blacklisting them.

On the other hand: Text on a monitor can't do anything to the human reading it… and there is still a possibility to turn off the televisor.

wow, the fact that this feature already exists, yet is so hidden is kind of terrible, and it's not intuitive to use at all

It used to be accessible in an easier way before the upgrade to XenForo 2. Just bookmark the link for future use.

It's simple, ingenious and very much needed thing - this ability to mark individual threads as "ignored".
In general, do it already, we do not live in the 19th century. We have a future all around. But not here.

Thanks for pointing this out! I came here looking for a way to hide the EOF, I don't know how mods aren't deleting the pointless sexual topics in there

Try to type that on the "near suicide" thread. I got "attacked" by posting this same thing. Not that I care in the first place, but meh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know, off topic.

Also, now that I'm posting, might as well end with a personal attack towards site administrators:
Ignore button doesn't work.

Why am I on your ignore list? you're not on mine. I told you before, I only tease you, because I like you as a friend. I thought you could take it from all of us. It's a temp inside joke. :(

There needs to be an "Ignore Internet" option, for those fragile little weak willed snowflakes who are tired of seeing mean people say mean words.

I see this suggested a lot when this topic comes and I honestly don’t think this suggestion is all that helpful. Members are expressing ways that they would like to see in order to avoid conflict and this clearly isn’t a working suggestion for them. I think the staff really needs to reconsider constantly falling back on this reply because it’s not helpful.

An option to ignore threads is better than deleting threads because of complaints from a few excessively vocal members.

Like this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/can-site-stop-promoting-threads-related-to-pornography.623877/

Hadn't really considered that because I would rather not complain and just stay away from the forum altogether, but...

Self control is not a virtue for everyone, I apologise for the foolish assumption when I made that suggestion.

an "ignore subforum/category" option would be helpful too, so i can stop seeing stuff from the politics section constantly show up in the recent feed
And an option to keep posts from the politics and edge of the forum sections out of the Latest Posts widget on the forums page. I don't want to see shit about political divisions in the US or sex with a prostitute appearing in a widget containing mainly tech and gaming related content. If I want to see or discuss such content I will visit the relevant section.

EDIT: To clarify, such content does have a place on the site and the Pornhub 3DS thread should be restored. But at the same time, it should be properly quarantined and right now it's not.

I do hope this isn’t a sarcastic comment because the staff’s sarcasm and dismissals of user suggestions is another problem that needs to be addressed. This issue is often being brought up because members are given just enough tools to get close to this happening but ultimately continue to fall flat as their ability to fully hide parts of the forums is simply not there. I don’t see why the staff often feels the need to meet users with hostility on this issue when users can already do half of this request to begin with. Equally, I don’t see why the staff continues to create more issues by not considering this advice. I think there would be far less issues if members were allowed to just completely hide sections they don’t want to be involved in.
