Short answer no you can't and no you won't if you could play 3DS games on a DSl a huge part of the 3DS's market has been thrown out of the window.

Well, on a standard game card a 2GB game would work, as it could have a very long story and a lot of data.


But no, 3DS games are only for 3DS. No way to get them to play on older consoles.

No, you can't play 3DS games on a DS. Nor should you be entitled to, just because you bought a DS 6 years ago. Get over it, and go spend some more money. It's been more than enough time for it to be reasonable for Nintendo to expect everyone to buy something new. If you bought a DSi/XL; tough luck. They were optional.

It's been so long, and we've had so many redesigns that some people seem to have forgotten that new generatiosns tend to come out every now and then.

There is a notch sticking out of the side of the 3DS cart, so it wont actually fit into a DS/Lite/i.

I'm sorry, but this has to be the most obtuse assumption I've ever seen. Did you think the DSlite's top screen will magically widen out to accommodate the 3DS's graphics? Do you think the DS's CPU and RAM will magically expand to accommodate 3DS games?

No, you cannot play 3DS games on a DSlite. But you CAN play DS games on a 3DS.

It's already been announced that they won't. Offically, by nintendo.
They even changed the shape of the cart so it wouldn't fit in a DS/Lite so that people wouldn't get confused.
