For a few months my 3ds wouldn't charge so i thought my off-brand charger that came free with it broke, then when the new official brand one came it also wouldn't charge (i'm not sure why). Today i saw the back of my 3ds poking out a bit and found out the battery (rechargeable Li-ION battery 3.7V 1750 mAh 6.5 Wh) is swollen, this is the same battery that came with the 3ds when i first bought it 5-6 years ago. I think the bloated battery isn't the charging problem in the first place because it looked fine a few months ago and i read one of the causes is not charging or using a 3ds for a long time, which i did because it ran out of battery a few months ago and couldn't charge or switch it on.

Question: I tried searching on shopping sites and some batteries are 2000 mAh would that be fine? What would it change? Would it make my 3ds explode? Would it be compatible? Sorry for being cautious i just don't want to waste around $50 (yeah my country's shipping prices are terrible)

(also optional questions: Any instructions on how to properly dispose of a swollen 3ds battery? What new battery would you recommend?)

If possible, get an original battery from nintendo, give them a call. The alternative is a cellonic battery, as these are almost equally reliable.
Do NOT buy the crappy 2000 mAh fake batteries, their real capacity doesn't exceed 500mAh at most.
