Hello,
is there a way to inject a save into the switch without the game or an existed save already there ? I want to put a some saves (like pokemon) to unlock missions in arceus but with JKSV I need to have already a save (and the game) to inject it.

That’s the only way that I’m aware of. What’s your use case (the advantage) where you want to use a save but not the game itself?

unlock things in pokemon games like special missions in arceus if you have a pokemon sword save in your console. But I don't want to install the game itself

You have to for the data to get created initially afaik, only then can you restore different savegames no matter how much you played before or simply just booted it to the main menu.

Yes it's annoying for the Pokemon bonuses, but there are literally worse things you have to do for free stuff, so don't be like that.

Aha! I understand. Appreciate the clarity. I believe Checkpoint does something like this via PKSM Bridge to import saves from absent games but they specifically call out Pokémon swsh:

https://github.com/FlagBrew/PKSM/wiki/Basics#checkpoint

I think for simplicity‘s sake it is easier to bite the bullet and install the game and import the save.

as for that part idk, i just know that jksv can inject saves without needing the game
Well I wonder how, because unless I start the game at least once there isn't any savedata for it on the internal system, hence JKSV won't show it on the list aswell. I'm pretty sure it can't inject savedata without one being present already.

#8 Create save data so the user no longer needs to boot games to import saves.
Titles can be rescanned from the Extras menu. For example, if you insert a game card while JKSV is open, rescanning will load and add it to the save creation menu(s)

ok but still it doesn't say anything about not having to install them (or have the cart inserted)....

your right but i found this
  1. Export and use SVI files to create save data for titles not installed on your system. For games that detect other game saves to unlock content.
    • SVI files are simply the title ID, NACP, and icon packed into a file. Placing them in JKSV/svi will load them as if they are any other game on your switch. They will appear in the save creation menus with the rest.
it was right under the one i posted from the github link

I'm having a hard time finding SVI files to download. Can we even discuss where to acquire them here?

Save files can be discussed. There is a thread floating around with 100% saves. Besides that they're kinda just scattered everywhere

I need SVI files for a bunch of games to help rebuild a Switch using a NAND backup I have. I'm trying to do it without having to install all of the games they previously had, I've already extracted\decrypted the saves from the backup. Can I extract the SVIs from the NAND backup? I wish someone would make it easier to just 'copy users/saves from NAND backup' to new Switch

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
