I have a bunch of nds games that i cant really use because my ds is broken. Is there a way to dump these games into a .Nds file that could be playable by emulators.Yes I know, I could just go to romulation or emuparidise and get the roms but These files are backups in case I lose my game with my progress. Can i just solder some wires to the metal contacts and connect the wires to a usb cable and use win32 disk imager
Or whatever its called to make a nds file or at least a nand. Bin file.Am guessing I have to purchased some kind of assessory to get the file. Thanks for the help and sorry for the long question. ☺

You can't simply solder a usb cable to a DS card as DS cards do not have a usb controller built in. Similarly, they won't work simply soldered to an SD card reader. You need something like the NDS SMS4. You can get one from NDS-card.com

If you have a 3DS, you could dump the saves with TWLSaveFiler, a homebrew written by TuxSH. It can dump saves from like 99% of the DS library (Warioware DIY and a couple other obscure games that don't use traditional save chips are the exceptions).

The OP did mention ROM sites by name though so that is not as much anti piracy stance as basic site policy.

Back on topic then there are occasions where soldering things onto contacts is a good plan, however I still suggest searching to see if there are things with sockets you could cannibalise. Here

Price wise they seem to have gone back up a bit but for a while they could not give them away.

The protocol is rather different to any SD, USB, NAND.... you would have seen though so you could even tie it into a multi card reader or something. You might be able to do something for save readers with a card ( http://problemkaputt.de/gbatek.htm#dscartridgebackup ) as it is SPI underneath it all. For the effort though I would probably fix the DS, buy a new one or something else and just use software methods.
There are also hardware ROM dumpers and save readers for not an awful lot of money, bonus is most people want the 3ds compatible ones so some of the older DS only ones go cheap enough.

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
He ruined it basically. Sad cause it was a decent old bike. It would take more money to rewire the bike than it was worth tho.
