Is there a device that i insert a DS cart like a SD card, and it opens up the cards contents? And i can edit the .sav file?

I want to do this because i think i might start playing pkmn again if i decide to get a 3DS. And when i played pkmn games i had an OCD problem where all my pkmn had to be in a ball that matches their color.. so i'd just open up pokesav and edit their pokeball.. i might be a deal breaker if i can't do it.. yea ridiculous i know

There are devices you can dump saves with using the PC to handle it all ( NDS Backup Adapter Plus and SMS4 being the big two) but frankly if you have DS homebrew capability (best option is a DLDI capable GBA slot cart like an EZ4 but a 3 in 1 will work and there are options for wifi if not) and are not lumped with only a DSi or 3ds it does the same job. http://gbatemp.net/topic/274290-how-to-dump-your-own-3dsds-gamessaves/ has more on that that although I will note Rudolph's GBA slot stuff is better for saves.

The same tools will restore it as well and saves from DS carts are standard saves which should function with all programs.

As pokemon has to be awkward the heart gold and soul silver versions need their own tool http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?12405-A-tool-to-backup-HG-SS-saves (the pokewalker sat on the same bus as the saves unlike every other DS game) although the NDS Backup Adapter Plus (plus is important) did work around that and there are also hardware options to allow the standard software tools to work.

IIRC there was a program to directly edit the save files on cart, but I don't know if it supported ball changing and I forgot the name... Sorry.

I'm gonna be using a 3ds only, i sold my ds lite a while back. will one of these work with pokemon black and white (and 2?) versions? I even have a 3-n-1 cart laying around, and 2 other DS's with the snaps broken off, maybe if i can fix em...

The 3ds has eject detection so it will not work with that as it is necessary to swap the carts for obvious reasons.

As far as I am aware black and white and the rerelease sequel have nothing troubling their saves. I guess it is fix a DS or find a NDS Backup Adapter Plus (fairly available but not as much as one might think).
