Is it racist to say "green person"?

I know it probably isn't, but for some reason if i'm talking to someone, they or even me might say "grass-skinned" or something instead of just saying "green"... Is it racist to say "green person", or is it racist to try to avoid saying "green person"?

I was teamming with a guy
He was at the other side of the gymnase grabbing stuff for class
Another student arrives, talk to me, asking to be in our team as well.
I agree, saying our other teammate was up there grabbing stuff
He asked me, which one is our teammate?
I couldn'T say the guy with long hair, they were 3 guys with long hair
I couldn't say the guy blue t-shirt, they were 2 with blue t-shirt
The only thing I could say to difference him from other, is that he had black skin
But if I say the black guy over there, I'll sound racist, right?
