ok but the question the guy had was updating his sysnand to 7.0 - 9.2. If you honestly have to ask how to do something so risky your better off using the safest option.

(also how does your browser version have anything to do with updating your sysnand off a legit cart?)

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were directing it at both of us. My bad.
The browser version is unaffected by cart updates.

true enough, I forgot the browser isn't part of the cart updates. Nasty situation your in but at least a hardmod will come in handy if you want to experiment/write a guide for people in the same situation :P

edit: couldn't you use 3DNUS to just download the brower update? That would have been safer than updating the whole firmware, no?

I don't blame the guy. He probably thought I wanted to update the emunand. :(
It's just a terrible result of a misunderstanding.

Sorry about the brick :( I couldn't have known.
I did the same process in emunand, I assumed it would have worked in sysnand. :shy:

No, updating with cias in sysnand don't update the native_firm, the native_firm have the KeyX's so if you upgrade to a version 7.0+ you brick the system. In emunand gateway add manually the KeyX

where and who do hardmods?

A few people around do hardmods, only one I can think of off the top of my head is hundshamer. Generally costs you a fee plus shipping(again never had this done so I don't know the specifics).

If you have the knowhow you can do it yourself but it does take a lot of work

I tried it already, and it sadly didn't work. I was hoping updating the whole thing would work, but... It didn't :)

It's OK! :)
I've come to peace with it. I just need to learn how to solder, but it's a good skill to know anyway. Don't feel bad. Please.

if it's your first time soldering I highly suggest you ship it out to someone who does it on a regular basis. Might take a bit longer but at this stage you don't want to take chances no? (Plus it's cheaper than buying soldering equipment)

unless its the system settings downgrade because loading cubic ninja all the time sucks :P

Yeah, if you have a new 3DS it's worth it, but for an old 3DS it's better to downgrade and a hell of a lot safer. Installing an invalid system settings CIA can screw you over bad, or lock you out of some newer options.

Hi!
I have O3DS with 4.5.0-10E System software with Cubic Ninja Retail card.
I will update to 9.2.0-20E.
Is these the right steps?
1.Download 9.2.0-20E CIAs with 3DNUS
2.Copy CIAs to SD card
3.Launch FBI via Ninjhax
4.Install all CIAs (set destination to NAND)

Is this the right steps or i should set the destination to SD CARD?

Download the complete firmware with 3DNUS (130 files if I remember right).
Copy all files in a directory named "updates" at the root of your SD card.
Launch Ninjhax, then PastaCFW.
Install the cia of "sysupdater 0.3" via FBI.
Launch PastaCFW again to acces sysupdater on your homemenu. Then, press A. It will update with the files you copied on the SD.

Yes sysnand. Pasta CFW works on sysnand. Don't try that on emunand, sysupdater warns you when you launch the application to not use it on emunand. To be sure, do these steps on a blank SD card, and you will be fine.

No, updating with cias in sysnand don't update the native_firm, the native_firm have the KeyX's so if you upgrade to a version 7.0+ you brick the system. In emunand gateway add manually the KeyX

Only with the gateway mode, pasta and pbt don't block the native_firm update, so you can use sysupdater with them.
But again, never try to update your sysnand while in gateway mode, it'll brick your console. (unless you're using the 2.2 launcher.dat)
