So my 60 GB PS3 just went YLOD on me. I turn it on, after two seconds it flashes yellow and turns itself off. This started when I was playing LBP, and I only had it turned on for like 20 minutes, so overheating probably isn't the problem. Is there any way to fix this myself, or can it be fixed by some third party guy? My old Ps3 broke 5 months ago because of an unrepairable BluRay problem, and I really don't want to pay them 150€ again, lose all my saves again and get a refurbished console back. Again. Sony, if I pay you 150€ to repair my console I expect it NOT TO BREAK AGAIN 5 MONTHS LATER!

Solution
sadly once a ps3 goes YLOD the chances of it happening again even after repair are EXTREMELY high, I suggest you fix it(google for various tutorials), get the disc out, back up your saves/files and sell it to get a slim.

there are guides to fix it but if you don't want to or can't do it yourself you can try this

http://www.gophermods.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=37

but as its said above with that fix it is only a matter of time before it goes again they are working on getting a Reball service up for PS3s which is a longer lasting YLOD fix (so i hear )
