In Diamond and Pearl, Lake Verity had a greatly increased chance for shiny Gyarados until you met the first one and then it would go back to normal. It was hinted by that "documentary" when you start the game. I think it was 1/512 or so...

I've never saw that in no game RNG mechanics...

Also, when I installed the leak I set my time ahead to the 17th. If I set my time back to normal then should I be good?

Just set it back to the right date (today), it's good, no problem. Also, if you set it back slightly earlier than you started the playthrough of the leak, then your play log from that point and on will be wiped, so go ahead!

The date doesn't even matter...... You can set your console to whatever date you want so it has no bearing on bans or anything of the sort. That would only apply if the console set the time automatically like your phone based on your geolocation and not on a user selected time zone. Your start date can literally be anything past, present or future; it doesn't matter.

Wait for your eshop to say you can buy the game first before you attempted any usum online activity.Changing your in game date doesn't effect anything since the online server will be able to tell the correct date you went online.

I'm not really able to browse the eshop though
But it is 11am of Nov 17 in here, and my 3DS date states that as well.

You can still use your old save on the legit game using a save manager homebrew.

...actually, I find it quite intriguing to be a sacrificial lamb at this point. I'll go and try the online features without deleting the game that was leaked a week ago. And I'll tell you guys about the outcome.


Well, here you go. I was able to connect online without getting banned.

Clearly, the Start Date doesn't matter at all, but this is the first time I have been online on Ultra Moon, so
I can't speak for the ones that has tried getting OL before Nov 17, 2017

Bans usually happen in "waves"...more or less they collect information on the systems that were playing the game early and then they start banning everyone collectively.

Once the new VGC season starts for USUM, expect a ban-wave to follow.
