Hacking It seems there's two different types of RCM jig???

I bought a jig on ebay, I also plan on ordering the SX Pro kit.
Why are the pins in the jigs in different places?
Is one better than the other?
Is one more likely to damage my console?
The Team xecuter jig has the 2 pins close to the right, and everything I see on ebay has 1 pin on left, and one pin on right.
I'm confused, anyone know what's up?

They both will work the same. Both are equally safe. I don't think one is better than the other.

- pin 10+1 = commercial jig . you can buy it for just a few euros / dollars ( I have this and never gave a problem )

- pin 10+7 = brand jig ( dongle like : SX OS , Atmosphere NX , r4S ... ecc ecc )

That's bullshit. It's really just a question of which parts the companies bought to build the jig. example: the acens jig connects pin 1 and 10.

The only proper jig is the one with pin 10 + 1. The other one is not safe since it bridges 2 IO pins instead of bridging to GND (actually there needs to be a 10 kΩ resistor aswell for safety).

They should both work but if you ask me, just use a tinfoil piece, you dont need to buy jig actually.

Actually according to this (see below) 7 is GND aswell. I must have mixed up 7 with 9. So 7 is fine (just don't forget the resistor). In the early days people were bending pin 9 to 10 which is a bad idea.

The sx jig is LEAGUES better than anything on Ebay. Most Ebay jigs have rough, sharp, paper-clip-like pins that are more likely to scratch your contacts. The sx jig has nothing of the sort, as the pins curl downward and only make contact with the smoothest part of the pins.

No joke, if I were to lose my sx jig I would consider paying $50 for another sx pro just to get another if that's the only option. I can always just re-sell the dongle at a discount. Anything to better protect my Switch rail contacts.

You can also shorten pins 9 and 10 using a screwdriver or a small 1mm piece of tin foil (the method I used), and you only have to do that once, until you enable AutoRCM, then you can take it off. So, yeah, either pin 1+10, 7+10 or 9+10, there's three options. Just as long as pin 10 is connected to a grounding source (e.g. a screw on the joycon rail, the exhaust fins at the top, etc).

Here's how you can use a piece of wire to ground pin 10 to the fins at the top (see at 1:25):

gonna be honest, if OP is even still here. the jigs wont damage your switch, carelessness will. any jig will work, it doesnt matter where the pins are, or where you bought it from, just be careful with it. its like the docks scratching peoples switches. never happened to me, bc i am very careful with my switch. dont be stupid, youll be fine

Jigs are kind of a waste of money if you think about it... But if you're too scared to cut up a piece of tin foil and some sticky tape, sure, go ahead and buy one.

umm... to back to the topic, and to summarize

* yep, there is multiple method to access RCM
* without any hacks, RCM is accessed by holding home button
* home button is held down by connecting HOME pin to ground.
* there is multiple ground pin, hence multiple design of JIG.

Well your first reply was clearly in response to the one in the OP's photo, which is NOT equally safe. If not, why wouldn't you specify and link the one you linked to me? Willing to bet you don't even own an sx jig. I've used both variants in the OP's photos and the white one, sucks.
