Pro Tip: Keep trying...

If you try to boot, but get a black screen for longer then 15 seconds, hold the power button for about 10 seconds to power down your switch, then re-enter RCM mode and try again.

Literally repeat this process, and eventually it will boot. Sometimes it takes upwards of 20+ attempts.

tried it 60 times per SD card now. Still no luck, am i that unlucky xD?

Does it matter i use autoRCM by any chance?

Well, no luck. I probably made an error somewhere.

I will wait till the new release is there and i will follow the guide again then, thanks for the replies though! :)

all i know is dolphin isn't full speed yet :( and speaking on that other point,i remember someone berating a new-ish member for asking a noob question saying "dude you've been here since july 4th 2018, you should know everything on gbatemp by now" acting as if he was even here for even a month yet, the elitism needs to die. it's sad and childish. I forgot who it was but some of you may know who it is.
Dolphin isn't full speed yet, but N64 isn't even 100% either. I think Dolphin will be one of the last emulators to be fully optimised tbh

Does the update directory method from the SD still work as of the latest version? Or has it been broken by FAT32 support?
No matter how many times I've updated Lakka using copy-paste, it still looks and behaves the exact same. Dolphin still crashes constantly on Mario Sunshine :(

Besides Lakka, is anyone maintaining and improving a Linux distro for the Switch? I haven't seen anything by way of a normal distro in months.

Lakka is a Linux distribution aimed at turning small computer devices into retrogaming consoles. It is a minimal operating system using RetroArch as a front-end - it contains nothing more, nothing less than what's required for RetroArch and its 100+ supported consoles and standalone games.

And guess what - it runs on the Switch too, using the magic of ShofEL2 ! Prepare your SD card, boot the system and you're ready to go !

You can find everything needed on this website : https://lakka-switch.github.io/documentation/

I suggest you read the FAQ as it already covers common issues and questions. The official Lakka documentation can also help.

The system is not perfect yet, some issues are still present (audio through Bluetooth, wifi only working after a reboot...). However, it is playable and I feel like it's ready for a (first) release. If you want to contribute, don't hesitate to make a PR or message me directly !

If you want to talk or follow the developpement of RetroArch on the Switch (both homebrew and Lakka), feel free to join this Discord server : https://discord.gg/VZDWqXU

Enjoy ;)
