Hi there,

I would like to know if there is a simple way to mod my my pa super nintendo to go at 60hz without soldering and complicated stuff. Since I'll only use an everdrive,I just want my snes to be fully 60hz ewwithout paying expensive mods

the 50 Hz is on hardware no on software, so the only way is changing the hardware (and also patching the software) so no way to a easy conversion.

You won't get far without soldering......... your best option is a 50/60hz mod with a toggle switch

There is the hardware mod that will not really help much for most good games will return an error screen of incompitable hw.
There is: https://mmmonkey.co.uk/snes-5060hz-switch-with-lockout-switch/
There is: https://mmmonkey.co.uk/snes-switchless-modchip/
but most important ther is: https://krikzz.com/our-products/cartridges/fxpak-pro.html able to patch region and frequention.
All 3 options have thier limitations, all 3 have thier pro's.

And i forgot to say: https://www.retroupgrades.co.uk/product/snes-multi-aio/
  • SuperCIC: cracking the regionlock while keeping the region lock intact (each game will detect this condole to match region).
  • uIGR: Ultimate In Game Reset.
  • Region Patch: seems overkill since SuperCIC.
  • DeJitter: patches the video signal to your tv.
  • DFO: dual frequency oscillator, here used to switch between base clocks for 50Hz, 60Hz video-modes.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
