Hacking Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story doesn't work

Hey guys. I can't manage Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story to work on my Supercard DSOne (non-SDHC). From what I learned using Google, it is a common problem and there is no "good" solution for this - using cheats to make it work actually lets you run it, but from what I heard, the game might be a bit glitchy then. Updating ndspatch doesn't work for me. Soo.. is there any working and not-harming-further-gameplay solution to this?

Set run mode to PATCH

Download the Evolution OS. Or do as Rocky said.

I have "Enable Patch" checked and it doesn't help. Thought it could be fixed without using the EOS, but if it can't, I'll download the new OS
