If this thing only runs (on mine at least) via gamma with Jap language forced: is there foreseeably a preloader patch for check/force disc language?

Or is that pointless?

The Wii Release List just came out, and there is no mention of Metroid on there. So it looks like the patch was really a good move. Probably no NTSC/PAL until minimum Q3.

There's a compiling paramter in the makefile which is said to make gamecube software compatible with the Wii(or something like that, i didn't understand completely). Fact is SoftChip has that parameter "-mrvl" in its makefile, Gamma not. In these tests this fact is switched.

Test11: SoftChip and Gamma use different commands to open the partition, that's Gamma with the SoftChip command for this.
Test12: SoftChip r68. r68 was the last revision which had to be compiled with the same libogc, Gamma has to be compiled with.

And please don't forget test10.

That's the beta launcher with entryholder fix. That strange parameter from test10 was in the beta launcher and disappeared in Gamma.

PS: That paramter is rarely used in the apps i have on my pc, maybe that a good sign *fingers crossed*

Thank you very much for testing. Don't expect any more tests today, but tomorrow i will try to repair test11 and test12. And i have a new idea i will test then too:
Metroid Prime 1 is one of the IOS Version patching games. IOS Version patching games are affected by changes to the tmd. The tmd is read with unencrypted reads while everything else is read with normal reads. SetOffset/SetOffSetBase changes the base address for unencrpyted reads. So i look if and which SetOffset commands Gamma and SoftChip do.

so it must have been reading something lol

A lot of people seem to be saying this, but I use the softmod and the game plays fine for me. I never IOS patched it at all.

This is just SoftChip without Set_OffsetBase command and SoftChipr68 again. I think(hope) SoftChipr68 didn't work, because it failed to load the config and was set to IOS36 then, so please test it again, maybe you need to delete the config file on you sd card manually for this.

This is SoftChip which loads the "stub" to 0x80001800 instead of 0x80003400, but it seems it doesn't work as expected. It should kill the return to loader function, but it doesn't.

Get Starfall or preloader for disc update blocking, the game should run in NTSC inerlaced 60 Hz mode by default unless you do some stupid stuff like force PAL video somehow.

SoftChip7 and SoftChip8 are freezing like the others after difficult select.
SoftChipr68 now freezes when i select IOS 249 !?

PS: I testing everything over wiiload so the config shouldn´t be a problem and i made everytime sure that IOS249 is selected

The old revisons have issues with this. Just try it on sd card with cleared config, i tested it and at least it worked for 1 game.

Hmm same problem but i tried it without changing the ios and it doesn´t even start the game like before.
After the "Loading Game..." it freezes for me.
