Yeah thats right, fuckin RROD!!!

I turn on my 360 this morning to download Bionic Commando Rearmed and THIS is what I wake up to. I've turned it on a few times and get RROD everytime.

Ok, I'm not gonna bother sending it back because its modded, warranty sticker is gone, and I broke one of the latches that holds the front together while opening it one time. I've seen both the X-clamp mod and the "penny" fix youtube videos.

My question is, which works best??

Penny fix FTW. You don't even need to do the X-Clamp mod, if the Penny fix is done correctly.

works fine for me, except i bought the screws at a store in my town and dont use nylon washers but only steel washers.
Also do both GPU and CPU and replace the thermal paste with arctic silver 5.

things needed:
8x m5 screws
8x m5 spring washers
16x m5 steel washers
1x arctic silver 5
1x thermal paste remover

Think I'm gonna try both. Well the penny fix first because I have pennies around now. If that doesn't work then I'll xclamp it.

I ordered an xclamp kit from ebay yesterday so it'll be here soon. In the meantime, I did the "towel trick" and it's working fine. The only drawback is that now my fan is loud as hell lol. What caused that??

I would say not. I've done an X-clamp fix without the penny fix and it RRoD'd again after 1 week.

A friend of mine tried it about 4 times on his 360, it didn't work a single time, and the 360 smelled of burned wires. Luckily it was still fixable with the Penny fix

ugh, you most likely have damaged it more now. Why don't people understand, the towel trick is dangerous for the console and doesn't keep the RROD away.

towel fix will work for a few hours then its rrod again.

just get rid of the x-clamps and put new thermal paste, this will also make your 360 run alot cooler.

i have the new 175W xbox360 (check your power supply to see if you have this also) and the air that's coming out is cold, even after a few hours of playing.

Well the towel fix works for a about 2 hours then I get overheatin error.....2 red lights blinking. This'll do for acouple days until my xclamp kit arrives.

Another question, how hard is it to remove the clamps??? I heard they were a pain in the ass and I don't wanna break anything lol

i use a small screwdriver to take them off, nothing hard, just watch out you dont remove some resistors beneath it from the motherboard, its a hell to solder them back on.

Worked nicely. My 360 is back to normal for now.....hopefully lol.

just to be on the safe side just get a cooling fan for it
that will make it so your 360 is back to normal
although im not sure which cooling fan to buy
and im not sure about how much sound it will make

well im using a cooling fan and i've had my 360 nearly 2 years now with no problems what so ever. so more fool you lot who dont believe in cooling fans.
